i scored a christian dior jacket and a pair of ralph lauren boots at the thrift
store today.
today was my baby's 15th birthday. we went shopping the other night, and didn't find what she wanted. i tried to talk her into going to the thrift shop, and she was sorry we didn't. but i got to see exactly what she was looking for. didn't find that, but those 2 finds were cool gifts that she appreciated.
and really, as thrift shop finds go, these were a couple of all time great finds.

tell me about your great finds.

2. Oh man I scored a leopard print
Versace jacket.. it's absolutely gorgeous and a pair of Chanel pumps (and just my size too, they were meant to be MINE..bwahahahahaha mine I say) from thrift stores. Ya just never know what treasures one may find in thrift stores.
:bounce:

I'd say you made a really nice score yourself, bonus

:-)

3. ya know, they just have everything.
i also found a de la renta dress once. it was way to small for me, but i bought it anyway, hoping i would find someone who fit it. it ended up going back to the salvation army. but, hey, it was cool. it was worth a try.

6. Best score I got was my leather trenchcoat
I don't know how much it would have been worth new, but I'd say the sheer amount of leather that went into it would probably cost about a hundred bucks. And I got the jacket for 25. :)

7. i've bought quite a few leather jackets.
since i make buttons, i don't want a jacket that costs me boodles. i want something to stick pins in. i use them sometimes as displays for the buttons, too. i've had some great, butter soft ones.
i also, although i am pretty strictly a t-shirt, blue jeans person, i have a secret longing for a fur coat. i bought a few at the thrift store, but they usually have not been stored well, so the disintegrate on ya. but the thrift shop at children's memorial has well kept, nice furs. they are not cheap, but they are good ones. i'm just looking for the exact right one.

tell ya what, tho. the prices in these place have quadruples over the last 2 years.

8. I buy all my clothes for work 2nd hand
I find all name brand shirts and pants for under 15$. One day I had a Nautica shirt, pants that I got for 18$ 2nd hand (shirt with tag on it) I saw them in the store the shirt was 85$ and the pants were on 95$. I got a pair of 145$ Josef Seibel shoes for 9$ that looked like they had never been worn at all. I am not proud-

10. one of the reasons i could not bear to leave chicago.
we have 2nd had places across the whole spectrum, for sally's (salvation army) to designer second hand where the prices are still in the $100 sometimes, but still half of what they cost new. i don't know how people can shop at target, etc, especially for clothes.

i have also bought printers from the thrift shop. it's a gamble, but i have paid $5 for a hp printer that sold for $200 that worked perfectly.
