Help me figure this out...please.
Edited on Fri May-02-08 02:57 PM by hippywife
If you are of a certain age, you might be able to help me remember what this was. I'm 49 and I grew up in central Ohio. Those facts may help a little.

When we were kids, my mom (who doesn't remember this) used to give us a type of cracker to snack on that resembled a graham cracker in shape but not in flavor. They were slightly sweet and crispy but not a cookie or a Townhouse type cracker. They had a slight vanilla-ish flavor.

The flavor of these crackers is stuck in my memory but I just can't identify what they were. I can't seem to even find anything on the shelves that even resemble them. They weren't arrowroot cookies - I tried those. I don't remember the packaging, either. They may be something that's not made anymore.

It's driving me crazy! Anyone have any ideas at all?

anything like that.

BTW, I'm still trying to find anyone that remembers Whip n' Chill.

Sorry for the non-help.

4. Those are the
thick teething things, aren't they? If they are, I don't think that's it but it might be worth a try. The ones I'm thinking of were also very thin and light.

Thanx! :hi:

5. maybe icebox cookies? My Nana used make those, they were thin and almost lacey
i think she might have used super finely ground almonds in them, the cookies didn't taste like almonds though.

13. Sea biscuits - that's what I was thinking of!
I couldn't think of the name until you asked.

Also called hardtack.

They're brilliant for New England Clam Chowder, which is why I think of them as "New England Biscuits".

18. They're definitely not sweet
It's just flour, water, and maybe salt.

Probably not what you're looking for.

17. Hardtack? We used have Common crackers, i know you're far above anything "Common" but that's what
we used to have. The plain ones, not the cheese kind, maybe those are new.

15. Captain's Wafers?
Very slightly sweet and buttery...but to my mind not much of a vanilla flavor. Could these be what you're looking for?
