I know - it isn't much, but I am just ridiculously proud of myself... From Charlottesville towards Afton. :-)

:toast:

sometimes it's good to remember that there is life outside the election process....

13. I need to tune my bike up and do the same!!
I've been complaining to my wife about the weight I have gained because I don't get any exercise -- riding my bike to work would be perfect!

3. Yayyy! Good for you!
Tell me if this happens to you: When I drive, I get to my destination and I'm stressed bcuz I've been yelling in my car about moronic idiots who I have to share the freeway with.

But when I cycle, I arrive all happy and energetic, coming off a seratonin high and in love with the world. Even though it takes a lot longer to bike, even though for an impatient Type A like myself, it feels amazing to mellow out and let everyone else pass me by in their bigass SUVs.

A strange and beautiful phenomenon. I like it!

5. FYI
a 12 mi commute is a long commute. most ppl coming through the bike shop i work at are only commuting 2-8 mi/day. keep on rockin', and have another beer!

15. mine will be 24 miles a day, hopefully sometime next month... Right now I am only biking one way...
I hope to start riding in to work when I get in better shape. Right now I finish the ride home and am completely DONE for the night... LOL!

Don't think the boss would like me biking in only to nap at my desk...!

9. That's fantastic!
Count on being super fit in no time!

I did bike commute like that and dropped nine pounds like an armful of bricks in a month. Bike commuting is what finally took off the baby weight.

12. Congratulations. That's great!
I just bought a Diamondback Sorrento at my neighbor's garage sale for $25. It has two flat tires and needs to be cleaned up a little bit, but it appears in overall decent shape, and my wife was okay with the impulse buy.

I have a 15-mile commute to make, but I intend to start making it happen when I get the bike fixed. I've never been much of a bike rider before, so this will be an experience, and I might die of a heart attack either to/from work. I have the motherfucking oil-soaked "fitness President" to thank for this.

Congratulations on your achievement. You should be proud of yourself. :toast:
