10. hmm. some of my family lives in the area....

Redlands, a sister in Riverside ... it was very different 20-30 years ago; when I last saw it in September it seemed like all the orange groves, etc., were long gone. Used to be lovely, though Riverside has always had its iffy spots.

downtown Riverside is making a comeback. Rubidoux has some of the worst air quality in the nation.

14. tell me about it - as a kid in Redlands wanting to do cross-country

in the late summer? I don't THINK so. 110 degrees with third degree smog alerts; I was slightly asthmatic to begin with; the first 'workout' was enough to damn near send me to the hospital for a week. Oh well. In the '80s, there were still some orange groves in Redlands and springtime was wonderful....

The Mission Inn was/always has been pretty cool, I'm glad there's some economic revival going on.
