and I've lived here all my life! ;)
I've watched people slam on their brakes when it started sprinkling. That's just plain old rain, never mind ice and snow. Luckily, we don't get that often enough to have to deal with it. And yet, pea-soup fog where you
should be driving 20mph and they're still going 70! Ever heard of 100-car pileups y'all?
I've noticed this change in driving ability in the last couple of decades. I can only think of two reasons for it, one being how the Texas DPS has dumbed-down the drivers' test and the other could be more undocumented folks behind the wheel. I have listened to some reasoning about that on the local liberal station (KPFT) that due to being undocumented, their driving habits lean on the overly-cautious side.
Of course, there is still plain stupidity to contend with from all drivers, in all kinds of precipitation. It takes an accident to teach some of them.
