Watching the dog show... reminds me of a story.

When I was 15, I was seeing a girl (yeah, I was unclear). Her mother ran for the State Assembly, and on election day, I phone banked for her. I went to this rather nice house and was put into a boy's bedroom to make calls.

The woman who owned the house came up to tell me she was going out for some errands - I said OK.

After she was gone for about half an hour, I went downstairs to get a drink of water. I got to the bottom of the stairs and was greeted by an Irish Wolfhound, that I hadn't been introduced to. Nobody else was in the house. Just me and this giant who had no idea who I was and why I was there.

He barked. I went up a stair. He barked again. I went up two stairs. He barked again. I ran back to the room and slammed the door shut.

I waited until the woman got back. She came upstairs, and introduced me to the dog. He was the sweetest big ol' thing once he was introduced.

I also learned tonight that a hound has never won Best in Show. Interesting.

4. According to a Google item, hounds have won

three times, although i can't remember when. Afghans and whippets. At least the borzoi and whippet made the cut tonight.

6. I love Irish Wolfhounds...

one of my dad's friends had one, and when he ran off to be famous he left it with us... what a lovely old dog he was. I miss him.

I don't think a Chihuahua has ever won... which is a pity. Cause I love Chihuahuas, too. :)
