Finally got the Xmas tree out...
Mr GoG just took too long, and I had to teach. At least he got most of the ornaments packed away the way he wanted them. But damn, that thing was heavy and awkward to lug out the door. I've still got needles poking into my skin and sap on my hands and clothes. :eyes:

1. No comments?
Surely this is a DU record...
Though it doesn't match the year the tree stayed up until 2/14.

2. The place I'm staying still has healthy, uncut pumpkins on the porch, from Halloween.

3. We carved all our pumpkins, but we still have a watermelon from September...
I imagine the seeds have already started to sprout inside.

7. It's a California tradition.
I carve them up for other holidays like New Year's and Valentines Day. They do rot eventually when the warm weather returns.

4. A couple of years ago
there was a fire in my brother's apartment in early December. Everybody in the building needed to wait six weeks to move back in. His downstairs neighbors had bought a real tree that year. Common sense should have told them to throw it out once they moved back in but they left it up until June. Everybody in the building was afraid there would be another fire thanks to them.

5. We unplugged the lights ages ago...
Still, it was annoying to have it taking up space.

6. There were still needles left?
On the tree???

Another couple of weeks, and you could have hung some hearts on it for Valentine's Day.

A month later, some shamrocks.

Then when it spontaneously combusted for the Fourth of July, you would not have had to remove it from the house. It would have removed the house around it.

Looks like you went to a lot of work for nothing.

when I got pissed and threw the tree, lights, ornaments and all into a box and shoved it in the closet.

10. I used to keep a small fake tree up year round...
so my son could decorate it with hearts, shamrocks, flags, etc...

But this was a 10 footer that was alive at one time.

13. I feel your sap-laden pain--I've had to "teach" Mr. MG as well
Now...how long before the carcass leaves your yard? You can't beat our...very special nextdoor neighbor, let's call him (:sarcasm:)--every neighborhood has one, no? He's making a collection of ex-Christmas trees on the side of his house (the side WE have to look at, thanks so very much). So far there are three, maybe four (he had a small one in addition to the large one last year). This year's is in a white plastic bag that makes loud whipping noises like a flag when we have high winds, which adds to the ambience.

The sick thing is we have town curbside pickup--just put the thing by the road on trash day, and they bring along the woodchipper and whoomp--it's town mulch. What could be easier?

Sigh. I really don't understand that man. Really I don't...

14. I dragged it to the curb...
I'm not sure when they'll pick it up. I'm just glad it's out. :D
