The rules at Falwell's Liberty "University"
http://www.liberty.edu/media/1210/Code%20of%20Conduct%20Revised%201_08%20LATEST.pdf

People actually pay to go to this prison. Every student has to follow these rules (not just undergrads) and at all times (even off campus and during breaks, like they can enforce them then)

1. Yeah, these fundy schools are short on trust
Not sure what short hair and not dancing has to do with being Christlike, but whatever.

40. Some Funny Potential Breakings of the Rules (Hopefully)
1: While your mom visits, she drops her coat off in your bedroom. $250 fine and community service.
2: While visiting, you go to a resteraunt and she has a glass of wine. The same punishment as above.
3: Two or more individuals of the opposite sex together in motel room without proper permission. I don't even want to know...
4: The fact that making love with someone is greater in their minds than academic dishonesty... I swear to God...
5: Involvement with witchcraft, séances or other satanic or demonic activity. Goodbye weekly D&D game. And that fantasy novel and comic book collection has to go!
6: Immorality: Nice blanket term...

6. This sort of infantalization disempowers the individual and causes them to follow authority.
It's one of the worst aspects of our "culture".

8. Sadly, some people actively seek this out
No one HAS to go here. They want authority, they crave it. Some people can't function without it.

At least this place has accreditation (somehow) unlike Bob Jones. If the parents refused to pay for a real education, they might be able to transfer to community college.

7. My high school govmt teacher went to Liberty Univ.
or maybe it was still Liberty Baptist College back then. Anyway, she was young and super-cool and from Cleveland (i.e., not Virginia) so we couldn't figure out how she ended up there.

She coached the cheerleading squad. But perhaps that counted as phys ed... or was her way of rebelling AFTER college.

25. Lynchburg is not going to be an abortion-friendly town
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 11:48 AM by JoeIsOneOfUs
It would be a struggle to find an abortion provider I expect. I wouldn't doubt they would "tell on you" even if you were 22 years old.

There are several hospitals in Lynchburg and quite good medical care considering its size and location.

(edit for typo)

14. "Cheating on a quiz = 12 reprimands"?
WTF is that all about? As I recall from my college days, getting caught cheating on a quiz meant you were kicked out of the class with an "Incomplete" at best. You never even wanted to think about the worst.

But then I went to one of those "liebural" arts colleges that taught evolution as an accepted theory on par with gravity.

20. Do not click on that link if
You're running Firefox on Vista! My whole system froze, and I had to reboot.

I effin' hate Adobe! Even more than I hate Vista. Either that, or Falwell's heirs somehow figured out that a heathen computer was trying to access its information.

It does seem to be be making infants of young adults.

But Al Franken did a segment in one of his books on this. From what I remember he came out feeling bad for having mocked them. It is their choice to be there after all.

They want to control and punish student behavior on and off-campus. What's the point of being an adult and attending college if they're going to treat you like a six-year-old?

37. Well, let's all go back to the 50's and go to the malt shoppe.
"AWW Jeez, Betty Sue smiled at me.

Think she will let me hold her hand?"

So make sure you have your nice knee length khaki shorts to wear after 4:30, and your button down oxfords. If you put pennies in your loafers make sure Lincolns head is pointing up.

What a bunch of anal jerks.
