Robert Plant demands bar stop playing Radiohead music
OH MY!!

This is tough because I love Radiohead music but absolutely adore Robert Plant!

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,23090330-5006024,00.html

ROCK legend Robert Plant demanded a London bar stop playing Radiohead on its sound system, branding it "rhyming c**p".

The Led Zeppelin rocker dislikes the melancholy five-piece so much he asked staff at Camden's Fifty Five Bar to change the record because it was ruining his night.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Robert was drinking with a woman and didn't like the choice of tunes playing.

"Radiohead was on and he started complaining. He said, 'What's this rhyming c**p?' "

However, when staff put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers instead, the 59-year-old was still unimpressed.

The insider added: "The staff were obviously keen to please so they changed their music. They put on the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who they thought might be more up his street. But he didn't like their stuff either and said it was like a 'nursery rhyme'.

"He then said he wanted to listen to Captain Beefheart, an American musician who was famous at a similar time to Zeppelin from the 60s to the early 80s."

Led Zep:
You need coolin', baby, I'm not foolin',
I'm gonna send you back to schoolin',
Way down inside honey, you need it,
I'm gonna give you my love,
I'm gonna give you my love.

(Chorus)
Wanna Whole Lotta Love

You've been learnin', baby, I bean learnin',
All them good times, baby, baby, I've been yearnin',
Way, way down inside honey, you need it,
I'm gonna give you my love... I'm gonna give you my love.

(Chorus)

You've been coolin', baby, I've been droolin',
All the good times I've been misusin',
Way, way down inside, I'm gonna give you my love,
I'm gonna give you every inch of my love,
Gonna give you my love.

(Chorus)

Way down inside... woman... You need... love.

Shake for me, girl. I wanna be your backdoor man.
Keep it coolin', baby.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
its the city I live in, the city of angels
Lonely as I am, together we cry

I drive on her streets cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy
I never worry, now that is a lie

I don’t ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way I don’t ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way, yea yea yea

It's hard to believe that there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe that I'm all alone
At least I have her love the city, she loves me
Lonely as I am, together we cry

And I don’t ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way
And I don’t ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love
Take me all the way yea yea ye-yea
Oh no no no
Yea ye-yea
Love me I say yea ye-yea

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough
Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I Gave my life away
Yeah yeah ye-yeah
Oh no no no
Yeah ye-yeah
Oh no no
I said yea ye-yea
I’ll stay

Both are crude, but at least the former song suggests confidence on the part of the character. The latter song is as drippy, maudlin, and as pathetic as they come. (Was RHCP mocking drug users? Trying to relate? Telling us that's how they feel because they use them?)

Accompanying music is another matter, but still...

22. 'whole lotta love' is also a song they plagiarized from an african american blues musician
....that's the real reason that I hate LZ. They made so much money from that song for so many years. Eventually there was a court case where this guy (can't think of his name right now) got some money from them and his name on the track which had said Page/Plant up to that point. Still, I'm just not down with white people making their money from the exploitation of black people - I'm funny like that.

It was Willie Dixon btw

You've got yearnin' and I got burnin'
Baby you look so sweet and cunning
Baby way down inside, woman you need love
Woman you need love, you've got to have some love
I'm gonna give you some love, I know you need love
You just gotta have love, you make me feel so good
You make me feel all right, you're so nice, you're so nice

You're frettin', and I'm petting
A lot of good things you ain't getting
Baby, way down inside, you need love

You need to be hugged and squeezed real tight,
by the light of the moon on some summer night
You need love and kissing too,
all these things are good for you

I ain't foolin' you need schoolin'
Baby you know you need coolin'
Baby, way down inside, woman you need love

19. .

I feel sorry for him.

I ought to listen to some of Led Zeppelin (or, if nothing else, slam my hand into a car door) just to compare his works with "Red Hot Crack Addicts" and these "Radioheadless" chaps... RHCP had good tunes, but their lyrics were a bit too maudlin at times... the song where the guy in the song (who always says "I") drugs up under a bridge because he has no partner (talk about a whiner)...

I know Radiohead guested on the South Park episode, so they could point and taunt the kid whose parents were slaughtered by Cartman to make chili with...

Oh, all that was just too disgusting. I'll side with the "Robert Plant's his hand in a car door to make his music loud" on this one...

21. Sounds like he was having a bad hair night or something.
If he wants to hear Beefheart, he should just stay home, or bring his iPod along with him, and not be a pretentious, pushy jerk.

Unlike Zep's first two albums and much of their later material.

Robert Plant is the weakest link in Zep and is the whiniest lead singer ever.

Along with Dixon, they stole music from Ritchie Valens, Howlin' Wolf, Eddie Cochran, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jake Holmes and Bert Jansch.

43. Plant has a long history with Beefheart and the Magic Band...
Zoot Horn Rollo wrote about how much time Plant spent socializing with them. He really liked Plant's company, but felt that Page "had an inflated opinion of himself considering that he just plays rudimentary guitar"
