Was Ronald Reagan a good Republican?
I was talking to an older friend of mine (life long dem) and he was saying that Reagan may have been a republican but he was a good man and a great president. This was the first and only time I ever heard a good word spoken about someone who had an R in front of their name.

This convo came about because I came across a can of spoiled beans and I thought immediately of Reagan.

1. If You Mean Was He a Good "Godfather" I'd Say Definitely
He set up the mold for W.

But as a traditional Republican, he was a wolf in no disguise. He destroyed every principle of the party since forever.

And there's no indication that Reagan was any kind of a saint in his personal life, either.

As a President, he made a good door stop.

6. 'I don't recall.'
That sums up his presidency. He may have been a decent man (don't know) but he was a lying sack of shit as President.

9. Ronald Reagan was a turncoat
and of the worst variety. I can't believe someone who lead a union for years could have turned around and screwed unions the way he did. He's got his own circle in hell, I'm sure.

11. He was "good" in that....
he did what the Republicans wanted him to do, and they were able to mythologize about him to claim he was a great president when in fact he was terrible. So he was good for them, but not good for us.
