Did anyone see the last episode of "Intervention" on A&E?
The one with the girl that was crippled by arthritis and the douchebag interventionist that needs his license pulled and sent to prison for fraud. That girls family is the reason why lions eat their young and other species kill their old. They were more worried about her embarressing them in public because of her condition instead of anything else and tried at one point in time tried to have her placed in a mental institution:eyes:. What they should've done is cut the family out of an intervention and just had her meet with a doctor by herself but no the producers at A&E have exploit pain and misery so the darkside of my id can be entertained.

1. I watched that and had the same reaction...
the family seemed to be full of "me! me! me!" people who were only worried about themselves and how their sister/daughter's illness impacted them.

It was so sad when she showed up for her sister's wedding and she was perfectly fine in spite of what her sister feared.

The damage to her joints was clearly visably -- she must have been in agony a good part of the time. I came away feeling she didn't have a true addiction but was badly mismanaging her pain/meds. To deal with that kind of chronic pain problem is both emotionally and physically draining -- her family seemed to be treating her like she was their idea of just some weak-willed drug addict. I am very glad the doctor who was there for the intervention pointed out to the family she had a very REAL and serious medical problem that needed adddressing through medication.

There was another episode a few years back that left me feeling the poor kid's problem was clearly her family. They were crazy fundmentalist "christians", headed by a distant father who wouldn't actually talk to his daughter but quote scripture at her instead. Listening to those freaks for five minutes I was ready to start smoking crack!

2. then you'll love next week's episode
Preacher's son addicted to cocaine.

Preview clip showed the preacher bawling 'cause his son isn't close to Gawd.

5. Every time I see one of those types of Southern families I always find myself asking
"Where's William Tecumseh Sherman when we need'em."

I know the other episode you're talking about, was it the girl that cut herself because she was molested as a child and they didn't take her to therapy but instead prayed over her.
:eyes:
God I hate these people.

6. The "Interventionist" said the family has experienced "two miracles"
Her sister giving birth and her other sister getting married.
:eyes:
Somebody needs to sit this asshole down and explain to him what a miracle is.

4. I still think this stuff ain't for TV.
I've seen it. I've done it. Profit aside, I don't see the benefit of putting it on television.
