What is the current flu/bug making the rounds in your area?
Three weeks ago I got a flu/bug that started as a cough and it went to full blown sickest I have been in years.

1. About that long ago a family member became feverish and expulsive.
I missed that one but currently have a runny nose (going away).

2. Friday night, shortly after getting home from work, every square inch of my body started to ache
massively. My throat/glands have been swollen and scratchy and I've had a low-grade fever, unproductive cough, headache and in total aching pain since. I have no idea what this will morph into, if anything, but I wish it'd go away. :(

3. I will let you know when it kicks in.
I have been coughed on by numerous slobs in the past few days. Surely I am doomed.

4. Thank dog for flu shots
The only time I've gotten that horrible achy nasty disease in the past 10 years was the one year I didn't get vaccinated. Before that I got it EVERY year. I'd rather have gallbladder surgery again than deal with that crap!

5. I only get sick after I get a flu shot.
I swore off them in 1997 and have not had so much as a cold since. I was sick every and all winter before that.

6. The bug I've got now
I'm hoping I don't end up with pneumonia. Every muscle and joint aches. Even my skin hurt for a while. I go a flu shot in October. :(

7. haven't checked on the bug(s) in my area . . .
but mine began with a slight scratchy throat then went into a full-blown sore throat, headachy, achy burning-lung thing.

8. people seem to have some weird stomach virus...
seems to start with a cold/tiredness. I haven't had that one yet, thankfully! :hide:

and it seems to drag on - there was a cold people had earlier last year, that seemed to drag on and on, as well.

9. The Norovirus in the UK
Here in the UK. I got it the 27th of December and my god, I've never felt the sickest since the first time I traveled after my Cochlear Implant surgery in 1997 (I caught some sort of bug and lost 15 pounds then, and couldn't keep anything down!).

My partner, his parents, his big sister got it Boxing Day. Then his little sister and I got it. Apparently his big brother, sister-in-law, and nephew had it before they came to his parents for christmas. Therefore, they passed it onto us.

I groaned at his brother, "It's all your fault!" :-( Hey I got better before my parents (who fortunately didn't catch it) came to visit from Minnesota. Apparently it's quite contagious and it's made the news, a week after I got it. My partner and I had to drive home the day I got it and I was vomiting in the car every so often and it hurt so bad to throw up but I couldn't help it as I felt SO sick. Also I had a touch of diarrhea (another symptom of the Norovirus) which was unpleasant!

12. Came down with a bad cold
right after Christmas--started in my chest and was miserable for a couple of days. Then moved to my sinuses and was just irritating. Pretty much gone now. I heart glogg. :)
