1. Is it a good film, or is it a "good film" if you're a Burton fan?
Too many of his films IMO are praised well beyond their actual quality, though I admit that I've heard generally good and non-hyperbolic things about this one...

2. It's a flat out good film
I've never seen most of his movies. This one is completely compelling and entertaining from start to finish.

3. Cool!
Johnny Depp is always enjoyable onscreen, and everybody loves Alan Rickman.

Perhaps I'll give it a viewing when it hits DVD.

I just wish that Burton would get rid of that damned blue filter already!

4. I have never been on the Depp bandwagon as far as thinking he's cute
But I am officially in love with him after seeing this movie. The man can do ANYTHING. And Rickman is a master. Everyone in the movie is terrific.

5. I agree. I loved it.
It was an odd mix. The whole Tim Burton meets Stephen Sondheim thing worried me a little bit but it worked. I listened to an interview with Sondheim on NPR and he said he was really pleased with how things went in the film.

It really was entertaining. And I have been recommending seeing it in the theater because I think that experience added something to the film, imo.
