Any star gazers out there
I'm in Jersey right now and a major storm is now blowing out. The moon is full and there is what appears to be a planet ever so close to the moon at 4 O'Clock. Anyone know which it could be? The clouds are rolling by so fast...it is really cool to see....and it's warm, 55 degrees outside. Weird, in a cool sort of way.

7. Thanks
I thought most would think I'm off the beam. I love this stuff. When I am in Maine...there are times I spend hours Just watching the stars. Amazing stuff ...no light pollution (if ya know what I mean) So MANY shooting stars.

10. Stars in Maine, ahhh..........
I watched the stars in Maine's wilderness when I hiked the Appalachian Trail, a most impressive sky. Still trying to get back there.

12. We do...
WE just bought a crappy 10 dollar refractive telescope. It isn't too terrible actually. I need to go out and look at the moon all full and stuff.

16. This is DeposeTheBoyKing speaking
We were out shopping/movie watching ("Atonement") and had to Google it when we got home. Beautiful full moon in the Bay Area! Wish I had my telescope!

17. "Twas fair amount of discussion about this on..
that evil news nobody watches, reads, or listens to. Was on the phone my brother in Nebraska earlier while he was walking the dog and told him to look up.

"Oh, Shit! What's that?" I told him it was the first wave of the invasion.

Anyway, the thunderstorm here on Long Island has finally lifted and I can see Mars hanging out there with the Moon. Neat. I've seen Venus do this more often, but Mars is now at its brightest in years and looks very cool.

19. I hang my head in shame...
...as an ex-astronomy teacher who had to hear about the conjunction from his mom. It was a wonderful sight, and I used it to teach a little more celestial mechanics to my wife.

To all who noticed the moon and Mars side-by-side last night, you may be up early enough to see that the moon has moved on inexorably eastward, so Mars is setting first this morning.

20. I saw it here in MD last night...
on the way back from my last gig before Xmas. :D

What a beautiful sight! Low drifting clouds were illuminated by a brilliant full moon, which seemed to be saying, "Meet my friend, Mars."
