Original message
I got to file a police report tonight.
I was in the food court in Grand Central Station grabbing something to eat on my way home. A guy in a suit, obviously drunk, ran into me and knocked me over.

I posted earlier that I'm in a hell of a lot of pain today because of the weather, so I'm not walking very well or very quickly. He hit me solidly with his briefcase, and whatever was in it, it was heavy. I was standing next to a table (thankfully) or I would have been all over the floor.

He yelled at me that to get out of his way and demanded to know what my problem was. I answered, "I'm sober and you're drunk. That's the problem asshole." He responded, "That's Right!" And then apparently realized the he just admitted being drunk and got mad.

I stepped over to a sorbet counter (Ciao Bello, great stuff) and he followed me, so I asked the person behind the counter to call security. He stalked away.

While I'm standing there ordering a sorbet, he came back, walked up behind me, and said I better stay out of his way or he would shove my crutches up my ass. The counter people at that point were coming around the counter, so this guy ran away.

There is a police station in Grand Central Station. I filed a report, and they were looking for this guy when I left.

FYI: White guy in his mid fifties. About 5'6" (2 inches shorter than me). Thinning hair but not bald, blond. Beige suit. Leather briefcase, like this one but darker leather. (I have no idea what this style is called.)

So that's my fun for today. How was your afternoon? x(

12. Unfortunately, there's no way they'll catch anyone in Grand Central
unless they accidentally stumble upon something while it happens. There are just too many people there during rush hour. And on a Friday night, Rush hour is 4pm until 8pm. :(

Ah well. Life goes on. I am sure this guy is this pleasant to other people too, so I'll bet he's well loved. :P

So he either lives up north of the city or in Connecticut.

I feel sorry for the people who had to share a train with him. :(

You did the right thing. I hope they catch the jerk.

If you walk with me in public you'll see that every now and then someone will deliberately clip me and keep going instead just passing me. I think some people think you really do get 10 points for hitting the cripple.

16. Yes, that's definitely true.
And I wonder if there's a correlation. I have bad days because of the weather, so I'm in pain and walking slower. Maybe people are in bad moods because of the weather, so they're more likely to do this kind of shit.

And no, don't care about their hard-luck stories.

Not funny at all what you went through, it truly stuns me how horrible some people can be. I'm just glad you're not seriously hurt; I hope you don't get bruised from him hitting you with his briefcase. This time of year can bring out the best in people, but also the worst.

The phrase "testosterone poisoning" always cracks me up, though. My mother and aunt would use it to describe some guy who'd just squealed his tires and sped down the street, or did any number of things. Reminds me of the two of them making each other laugh.

edited for clarity ;-)

because I know PLENTY of people who would have hospitalized him for harassing somebody like that... let alone somebody on crutches.

Not me though. I've got more restraint.

I wouldn't have done any permanent damage that would require hospitalization. Just lots of pain followed by unconsciousness.

Much as I hate to admit it, I'm kind of fragile now. A determined 5 year old could easily kick my ass. And that exact thought crossed my mind when he threatened me. All he would need to do is grab my crutches and pull and I'd be toast. :(

But he was all piss and bluff, thankfully.

I was scared, but calm about it. That surprised me. I was sure he was going to grab for my crutches, which would have put me in a world of pain very quickly. But I was ready for it so it didn't panic me.

It's weird now, thinking about how much I was thinking when all this happened. I even had time to catalog his features to describe him afterward to the police.
