So I'm guessing I don't have to work tomorrow
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 11:39 PM by Reverend_Smitty
Here's my situation, I work under 2 people a direct supervisor and our "big boss". Well my supervisor is (was) pregnant and was expected to go out on maternity leave this Friday leaving this week to sort of tie up loose ends and figure out the rest of the month's working schedule. Well apparently babies will not be told what to do and she left suddenly on Thursday taking an extra week off (how rude :P). So now it is just the two of us running things and my "big boss" isn't what you would call a micro manager he just sort of left everything to his assistant. Well I talk to him on Saturday asking when I should come in next (because it was my last actual work day written on the schedule) and he says "you're definitely off Sunday and Monday but after that...I donno I'll call you...it won't be the morning of but probably the night before"

Since I didn't get a call tonight, I can safely assume I don't have to work tomorrow but I'm thinking I shouldn't make any advance lunch plans for the next few days, huh? I sincerely hope that he will get on the ball with the scheduling soon. I can deal with it for a little while since things are a bit in flux but I will go absolutely batty if I have to deal with this for the rest of the year!

1. That guy needs to learn how to manage, and get his shit together...
Seriously, its not like the pregnancy wasn't known about ahead of time. What the fuck is up with this idiot anyways. Especially when he can fuck up your life this way, at least temporarily.

2. Thing is, he's retiring at the end of the school year so he's running on cruise control
and I'm only a grad assistant so I'm not a salaried employee so I'm there for the work experience more than anything. Still it's quite annoying, I feel like I'm on strike or something, any time I could get "the call" to come back to work.

It's the dead time of year and being finals week, even less is going on so if I'm going to spend my day doing nothing I suppose I'd rather do nothing in the comfort of my own home

3. Sounds to me like he's a highly disorganized personality.
Amazing how people like that get put into positions of authority.

4. I think it is a common trait in my profession...
Every head athletic trainer I've ever come across has been a scatter-brained mess. Those that work alone at a high school tend to be better but at the college level, if you have an assistant(s) it's all about delegation. I'm not sure if scatter brained messes are drawn to the profession or 30 years worth of football bus trips to Buffalo turn you into one.

I'm personally not one now but I fear for my future self
