DU parents: How old were your kids when they stopped being cuddly?
My almost 10 yr old son will not let me hug him anymore. I have to tackle him to do it.

The almost 8 yr old son still climbs into my lap for hugs and kisses and wants me to lie in his bed with him while he falls asleep.

How much of this is age difference and how much is personality? Is my baby gonna shut me out when he turns 9 or 10 too??

~GPV, who is trying to make the most of the 'baby's' cuddles for as long as they last.

2. My 5 yo. (boy) loves hugs but hates kisses.
My 11 y.o. (girl) is still cuddly, just not around her peeps, of course.:) What they really hate is when the Mrs. and I get cuddly. Excellent way to clear the room fast!

4. Hmm... it's hard to tell exactly.
I went off to college when my little sister was 8, and so I didn't really notice the exact point when she stopped. My neice, on the other hand, is 13 and every time I see her I end up using the old, "Captain, I've got a klingon!" joke at least once a day. :)

5. My younger son was cuddly until he was 13...
and then the "you cannot say no to a hug!" rule was no longer in effect.

My older son has given me hugs non-stop since he was 3 or 4, but would not let me hug him until then.

But now... they are both hugging again (at 20 and 22)! Took a while, but definitely worth the wait! :loveya: :grouphug:

People told me that they would be back, and yours will be, too.

9. I always cuddled her...
whether she liked it or not. Even as a baby she was a tad more reserved than my nieces and nephews. She was really bad as a young teen. Now I hug her even more, and I think she has warmed up bit-or resigned herself to a hugging mom.
