A Thanksgiving Wish...
I recently ran across this little quote...It's by a Welsh poet named George Herbert.

I think it was originally intended as a prayer...

But I think it's appropriate for Thanksgiving...

Do you agree?

You have given so much to me. Give one thing more, a grateful heart.

3. Absolutely spot on...
...it really made me sit back and think. I've been in a funk for the last two days because the holidays are coming, and I'm alone. Boohoo, poor me. Then I read your post:

You have given so much to me. Give one thing more, a grateful heart.

I have much to be grateful for. Enough to hopefully get me emotionally past the holidays. Thanks as always for your insights.

6. My dear California Peggy...
won't you consider coming out to the east coast for a little while? I could show you and your husband a great time!

That's a very thoughtful saying...but I don't have a heart...you know that :D

But I'm pretty sure I have a soul ( if that's what they call them these days ) so cheers to you and yours...and I will look forward to gaining about 15 pounds this Thursday. ( fucking sisters addictive pineapple stuffing and such... ). ;)

27. My dear socialdemocrat!
It's always a treat to hear from you!

Historically, and this is greatly abreviated, it goes back to the first harvest of the Pilgrims...

They'd had a hard time of it, and the local native people had helped them a lot...

The original Thanksgiving was a harvest feast to which all were invited...

I'm glad you like my little quote!

26. Isn't it amazing, Peggy, how so many people see Thansgiving as a time to complain?
Edited on Wed Nov-21-07 09:43 PM by Amerigo Vespucci
I went to morning Mass today and stood in a room full of people I know very well...many of them, including myself, coming to the end of one of the toughest years in recent memory. One thought filled the room: use Thanksgiving as a time to give thanks. At minimum, I have many friends, some dating back a decade or more, who have been my strength and inspiration this year. When I take my focus off of what I don't have, I find out how many blessings I actually do have.

A week ago I sent an email to many of my closest friends. It contained ten reasons why I am giving thanks this Thanksgiving. Reason number ten was "you are my friend, and you are reading this."

I have several pieces missing from the "completed puzzle" that makes up my idea of my own perfect little world. But I have life, I have determination, I have goals and I have friends. I am grateful.

Wow, what a lovely and thoughtful post! If I could recommend one, yours would be it...

I am overwhelmed at how much I have to be grateful for...

Including a brand-new grandson...

And so many other things make me grateful...

Your beautiful words move me...

Thank you...
