2. I heard the tv weatherheads say
that it would be a weak rain, and wouldn't help, in any appreciable way, with the ongoing drought.

Sorry.

Pray for the Gov's sanity, and a little bit of forward PLANNING.

4. Planning!!!???
Sonny doesn't know that word unfortunately.
He's calling for prayer meetings instead of conservation.

7. hey, this can't hurt
Song in the Garden of the House of God (from the Navajo corn-planting ritual)

Truly in the east
The white bean
And the great corn plant
Are tied with the white lightning.
Listen! rain approaches!
The voice of the bluebird is heard.
Truly in the east
The white bean
And the great squash
Are tied with the rainbow.
Listen! rain approaches!
The voice of the bluebird is heard.

From the top of the great corn-plant the water gurgles, I hear it;
Around the roots the water foams, I hear it;
Around the roots of the plants it foams, I hear it;
From their tops the water foams, I hear it.

The corn grows up. The waters of the dark clouds drop, drop.
The rain descends. The waters from the corn leaves drop, drop.
The rain descends. The waters from the plants drop, drop.
The corn grows up. The waters of the dark mists drop, drop.

Shall I cull this fruit of the great corn-plant?
Shall you break it? Shall I break it?
Shall I break it? Shall you break it?
Shall I? Shall you?

Shall I cull this fruit of the great squash vine?
Shall you pick it up? shall I pick it up?
Shall I pick it up? Shall you pick it up?
Shall I? Shall you?

Yellow butterflies,
Over the blossoming virgin corn,
With pollen-painted faces
Chase one another in brilliant throng.

Blue butterflies,
Over the blossoming virgin beans,
With pollen-painted faces
Chase one another in brilliant streams.

Over the blossoming corn,
Over the virgin corn,
Wild bees hum;
Over the blossoming beans,
Over the virgin beans,
Wild bees hum.

Over your field of growing corn
All day shall hang the thunder-cloud;
Over your field of growing corn
All day shall come the rushing rain.

6. He called for his prayer meeting after rain had already been forecast
That was pretty good planning, I'd say.

8. Does he realize
how ignorant our entire country looks to the world when a state governor comes up with an idea like that?

Or, is he just trying to con people into thinking he's actually doing something? I've heard of places where the water was turned off for the bigger part of the day to conserve water. People would have to collect and save water to use during those hours and less water was used. I haven't heard if Georgia has done this yet.

9. I read about that
there is some little town that has water now for something like three hours each day, and is trucking in water supplies from Alabama.

10. I think my rain dance did it.
But that rain is just a drop in the bucket compared with what we need to fill the lakes back up.

21. yes
gov announced a prayer meeting for same day forecasters were predicting rain. We need a real plan for conservation, in fact should have had one in place months ago. There is all kinds of new home construction going on in my area and while the rest of us are on a complete outside water ban they get a 90 day free pass for landscaping. I passed a construction site down the street from my home and they where washing down the debris into the gutter. Not only were they wasting water but the were polluting our nearby stream.

If I were on THAT jury I'd pretty much dismiss it as hearsay.

25. the weather report or the prayers?
cause less than a quarter of an inch is not much love. Maybe Sonny needs to pray longer than it took for his pic to be snapped for the media. Better yet make everyone conserve not just the Atlanta area and give the state a real plan. It's a joke when you have such a shortage of water and they don't put the brakes on new construction. It's not only the many tracts of ugly over-sized mansions on tiny lots but it seems we have to have a strip mall every 500 feet. Their are plenty of homes and existing closed down malls in this area that could be rejuvenated. Instead we build more than can be supported by our economy. Doomed to fail, boarded up and added to the many other ghost malls. Creating a blight on the local areas and this beautiful state.

17. I was under the impression their prayer came after the weather forecast predicted rain
This way it looks like God is personally responding to their prayers. But if that were true, then why did the same God send them a prolonged drought?

20. We had 3 inches in southern middle Tennessee.
It was a real gully washer, 3 inches in about two hours. We just need about 10 more storms like this one and we would be good. If it is going to rain like this in Tennessee every time the governor of Georgia prays, more power to him.
