Poll question: Do I ride my bike to work Friday (37 degree morning) or do I go to the gym on the way?
8 miles one way (about 40 minutes).

6. I'm wearing sandals to work today.
I so rarely need to wear warm socks that I never have a pair when I do need to.

9. You'd probably be okay taking your bike.
Between warm clothing and the exercise you'll be doing, you will probably stay pretty warm. I would stop riding the bike once temperatures fall below freezing.

10. Dress for the cold and bike.
The wind will leach your energy away in the cold. So if you don't have the clothing (it doesn't have to be specialized bike clothing) then take the car - you're excused today only. Once dressed to repell the elements, you'll build up some nice heat.

During my morning commutes in Winter, I can't wait for Memorial Bridge to sprint up some heat.

11. I have chilly weather bike clothes, but not true winter wear.
Going shopping this weekend, because I've been enjoying my rides to and from work.

12. Scarf
A good scarf around the neck and on the inside of your parka works wonders. It kills the chimney effect. I've been using a kefeya (Palestinian scarf) for over 20 years - not the same one ;-). What ever jacket you get, make sure you can cinch the cuffs to cut a chilly draught up your arms. Mine also has pit and corp zips for venting.
