Name a product you liked but is not around anymore.
For me it was those lemon products back in the early 1970s, lemon shampoo...and other lemons products made by LOVE I think. loved it. Talk about feeling fresh and clean...I was a walking talking bushel of lemons.

There was Lemon Up Shampoo but that's not the one. Anyway, I found this cool 1974 page...enjoy!

142. Yeah, you can... it's called "VAULT"
I talked to a rep on campus when it first came out (they had a truckload that they were giving away at WVU). I tasted it, and then laughed.

The rep asked me what was so funny... and i asked him if this is what they decided to do with all the leftover "Surge" syrup?!

He told me that they had decided to re-release it with a new name and supporting ad campaign... but yeah, same flavor / same formula.

But when I thought about it, it seems like VAULT isn't quite the same.
It's probably that extra flavor that Surge had: Ng (Nostalgia).

But Vault doesn't taste just the same. It's really close, though. And it needs to be a darker green color, too. (Surge practically glowed in the dark)

43. I loved "Love's Fresh Lemon!
...they also had a "Fresh Spring" scent that smelled heavenly. Once again, showing my age!

For me, I miss Max Factor's "Pan Stick". It was like theatre makeup in a stick and it hid a multitude of sins, like acne scars and discolouration. But I'm probably too old for it now, thick makeup tends to settle in lines and make them look worse. Too bad it's gone tho. Good product.

I owned one, too. Lasted fourteen New England winters, plus several trips up and down the eastern seaboard, followed by a fully-loaded cross-country trip to California. One of the most enjoyable and durable cars of the '60s. (P.S.: Ralph Nader can kiss my ass.)

any more. Jersey tomatoes used to be the best, but most are grown to Campbell's specifications now - grown to avoid rotting in shipment. Even the ones from roadsides stands don't taste right, but I've had some wonderful ones when I was out in California (but not ones shipped from there, just ones served there)

The sand has apparently been coated with "a special binding material", but I can't find anything that tells what that material specifically is, let alone what sort of hazards it might present.

I thought Aqua Dots looked pretty harmless...Who'd have thought?
Of course, it's pretty obvious that kids shouldn't be chewing on the damn things; but you'd still hope they wouldn't use hazardous substances in them.

It was way cool -- here's how it worked. Everybody had a right to this thing called a vote. And once or twice a year everybody would get together and put all their votes together, and they'd count them. By hand. And whoever got the most votes won and got to be in charge.

Wicked.

At one point, PF made about a dozen varieties of small cookies, of which only Milano and a few others survive. They seem to have been hit with a bad case of Bottom Line Obsession, and cut back to the simplest recipes. IMO, the Cappucinos were the best, which is a little strange because I don't drink coffee and don't like the flavor of coffee in most foods.

We used to play all the time when I was little and no one even came close to getting hurt. Then a few idiots had to screw it up for the rest of us. I still have mine, but they're in pretty tough shape.

151. Green Giant™ Baked Beans
I'd guess they were just being test-marketed regionally when I bought them many years ago. They vanished and they're just not made anymore. They beat everything else out there at the time, including B&M baked beans, which are pretty darned awesome.

Edited on Fri Nov-09-07 11:41 PM by Strawman
Never really tried it, (before my coffee drinking days) but awhile back I thought it would be funny to bring it home from the grocery store and see my wife's reaction. Unfortunately it turns out they no longer sell Brim. I was really looking forward to "filling it to the rim" with that stuff. Oh well.

I imagine it wasn't the best coffee, but I suppose I'll never really know.

Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 12:42 PM by midlife_mo_Jo
Actually, I found a few bottles the other day. I think they were bottled in Mexico. REAL sugar. I had so forgotten how good they were, but I haven't found anymore.

If anyone in the Houston area knows where I can get some, I would so appreciate it!

183. Pepsi Kona.
It was test-marketed in my area just long enough for me to develop a taste for it--I believe I was the only one who liked it. It tasted like coffee soda. And Salsa Rio Doritos--mmm, taco-y. (Soda and corn chips....those were my college staples, I don't actually ingest either anymore.)

I wish that they would bring these back. They came in little compacts containing three or four scents. We bought them at the drugstore and snuck them on our wrists and neck during class in high school. Here's a used one selling for $175.00

193. cream cheese with pimentoes. Cashmere Bouquet soap.
The cream cheese disappeared a few years back (so sad). The soap went out prolly in the 80s. I had a dear elderly aunt who had it in her bathroom for many years. My uncle used to store his bottle of bourbon behind the claw footed tub, so the smell of bourbon and Cashmere Bouquet soap was familiar to me. How lovingly I remembered it for them...

195. Palmolive and Dawn...had those pre-soaped cloths for dishes
I worked at an office where we had to use a bathroom sink to wash out out coffee cups...I would cut up those cloths into little squares - they were awesome! Easier and less messy than lugging a bottle of dishsoap and a cloth to the bathroom.

Its the little things that bring me joy
