Has anyone experienced tiredness?
And I don't mean physical tiredness, but simply lacking the energy to fight anymore, whether that be for a job, or for arguing a political point, or for the sake of trying to improve your life?

Is this simply something strange that I'm experiencing? Or is this usual?

6. How old are you?
I thought you mentioned at another time that you are young.

If so, I have to ask generally why any young people would ever feel defeated? (I'm 32.) And what would the older age groups say about such a thing?

don't you remember the discussion we had about Generation X? and how I was so pissed off at having that label placed on me? That was a few days ago, I think...if drunken memory serves

5. Defeat...
that's a strong word. Do you think that you've been defeated somehow?

I can relate to the concept of being "defeated," but consciously I don't believe I SHOULD view myself as defeated. Is this a realistic way to view one's life?

7. perpetual tiredness....
to the point of giving up everything that I've been fighting for the last few years...all that you described.
It seems like nothing I do makes a differnce...
Trying to crawl back out of the hole I've dug myself into isn't easy...
It's the story of my life....

Hope things go better for you...and it's probably just a passing phase if you're just noting it...
And don't you let it get you down...
Look upwards...and best wishes...

peace~

9. How long have you felt this way?
You don't have to give me details, but what do you think lead to your feeling this way?

Also - how old are you?

"It seems like nothing I do makes a difference..." - that is precisely how I feel. It's a rather terrible feeling, and I feel a bit victimized. I say to myself, "I've swum half-way across the river - who will be there to pull me the rest of the way across?"

But I feel that asking for help is naive. That to expect others to help me is asking for too much.

22. Too long...
I believe the answer would be found in my personality type...which I think is more like a personality disorder.

INFP-(a curse):
*creative, smart, idealist, loner, attracted to sad things, disorganized, avoidant, can be overwhelmed by unpleasant feelings, prone to quitting, prone to feelings of loneliness, ambivalent of the rules, solitary, daydreams about people to maintain a sense of closeness, focus on fantasies, acts without planning, low self confidence, emotionally moody, can feel defective, prone to lateness, likes esoteric things, wounded at the core, feels shame, frequently losing things, prone to sadness, prone to dreaming about a rescuer, disorderly, observer, easily distracted, does not like crowds, can act without thinking, private, can feel uncomfortable around others, familiar with the darkside, hermit, more likely to support marijuana legalization, can sabotage self, likes the rain, sometimes can't control fearful thoughts, prone to crying, prone to regret, attracted to the counter culture, can be submissive, prone to feeling discouraged, frequently second guesses self, not punctual, not always prepared, can feel victimized, prone to confusion, prone to irresponsibility, can be pessimistic*

I've been working out on the streets for the past few years...a lot of peace action and legislation things...some victories, the last was a defeat...so I went into hibernation...Everything was like an 'out of body' experience as I'm an introvert driven by a moral obligation...
Also, I'm 55 years old...and can't grow up...still living in the past...
I'm currently in therapy...but can't change who I am...

So if you've just noted this....and it's not the norm...perhaps there are situations or changes in your life that have affected your outlook, hence the tiredness.....Head stuff takes a lot of energy...
I wish I had answers...
Do your best to keep on keepin' on...

peace~

12. Extreme fatigue is often a symptom of depression.
There can also be other physical causes. Diabetes is one that comes to mind. Perhaps it's time for a physical?

18. I am 32 and in extremely good health.
Like, my life insurance company gave me their rock-bottom rate. ;)

But I've been a depression sufferer for 2/3 of my life. It's not a physical tiredness, but an emotional tiredness. I am wide-awake, but in bed while typing this.

A couple of years ago. I went for about six months, but it didn't work so I quit going.

BTW, I'm in the 25-39 age bracket.

34. do you just feel
like you give up on the political battle or on life in general? I used to think that nothing mattered when I was feeling sucidal when I was in my teen years. Like I said before I do not know why but I have not felt like that in over 5 years. When I was a student and I would feel like that it would last for weeks or months at a time (this continued on through the university and graduate school). All I did was just do my homework to keep my grades up and save up for my next vacation. Even a low budget 15 day camping trip did wonders for my mood.

Nowdays I try to take solice in little things I do that do make a difference such as eating locally grown organic vegetables, walking to work, marching in a protest, teaching a lesson about the welfare state to my students.

I'm 32, married, and have little options at this point but to pump out babies. It's rather demoralizing.

39. do you feel trapped?
My wife is pregnant with our first child and happy to become a mother. She was ready before I was so she had to wait a couple of years if she wanted to stay with me and his happy because we both felt ready when we decided to start our family. To us it is not at all demoralizing to have kids. We look at it like starting a new adventure. (Like I used to and still do look at vacations). Will it not be a joy for you to raise children? If not perhaps you are either not ready or do not want kids. You may also be depressed. If you are depressed you should consider perhaps some NON drug kind of treatment (talking to a counselor for example).

Do you still write?

32. Yes. I'm just worn out.
And I just don't care that much anymore, either. I totally understand what you are saying. It would take something really, really phenomenally unusual for me to get excited. I think it's just a symptom of having seen and done too much.

The things I still want to do... well, maybe they just won't get done. Don't know.

35. I think since the 2000 election, really. Thanks for asking.
I used to love politics and elections. This time, I just don't care. It depresses me that it's kind of all over already.

And at work... well, I'm nearing retirement, so it's an effort to stay enthusiastic. Personally, I've just taken one hit after another and my way of coping is to withdraw.
