Your Home State Sucks! ~~ Tell me Why! - (if you want to!)
Mine sucks because everything is so expensive and we're bleeding jobs
and there's hardly any affordable housing. All fee's are UP high and
it's a real fight to survive here now and winters coming and we need
heat to survive but oil is $89.00 a barrel! I'm really scared.

:scared:

3. How does my state suck... let me count the ways...
First off, weather. Tornados, hurricanes, ridiculous heat and humidity. All the goddamn time. We have two seasons here. 9 months of summer, followed by 3 months of not-quite-summer. And as much as you may have to pay for heating up north, you'll have to pay just as much for cooling down here. And at least if it's cold, moving around will keep you warm. Down here it's so hot that it's impossible to get off your ass and exercise for half the year. Just moving around creates too much heat. And because of the humidity, there's no way to get rid of that heat.

Secondly, I don't know how it is on the edges of the state, but here in the middle it's just one big mess of urban sprawl. With crap for public transit. So the traffic is horrible, and odds are good that any job you could find other than a McJob is going to be 10+ miles away. And you have to commute through horrific traffic and badly planned roads to get there.

And that leads to my last point. Idiots. They are everywhere here. The young and stupid. The old and stupid. The middle-aged and stupid. They not only add to the danger and frustration of the ridiculous commutes, but they make trying to interact with the people around you FAR more frustrating than rewarding. This state not only creates more stupid people every year with its crappy education system, but it also imports idiots from other states as well. I'd guess that at least half of the population is made up of people from out of state. People who were all stupid enough to buy into the idea that this is some nice sunny paradise with a big Disney-coated nougat in the middle. People who live here are trained NOT to think. Ever. And it shows. There is absolutely nothing resembling any kind of 'culture' in this wasteland outside of the occasional bits and pieces that Disney imports. Even the uber-rich people in the area who claim to be cultured just spend more money for fancier versions of the same things that everyone else buys off the shelf.

I have never been so damn excited about the rain. I feel like throwing a party. We were down to about 140 days of water supply.

And yes it was getting real scary.

16. Mosquitos, black flies, tabanids (the dreaded green head fly), moose flies, chiggers,
no-see-ums, black flies, deer flies, woodchuck tick, dog tick, black flies, deer tick, moose tick.

Welcome to Maine, blood-bag! (At least that's all you are to the 'wildlife' here that really wants to eat you).

summer. I can still see where the bite was.

17. But you're such a blue state, and have 2 kick-butt Senators.

Here in SC, the cost of living is relatively low but we're a red state. And we've got Lindsay Graham and Jim DeMint for Senators.

I guess you can't have everything...
