Movie villians you hated to see fail *spoilers inside*
I was PISSED when Bruce Willis as The Jackal didn't complete the mission. All that goddamn buildup, and Richard fucking Gere saves the day.

1. Roy Batty

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life, anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

7. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've seen C-Beams glittering in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those memories will be lost now, like tears in the rain. Time to die..."

Poetry. Sheer poetry. I cry every time.

14. "If you could see what I've seen with YOUR eyes..."
Indeed, Roy is a wonderfully rich and complex character. Malevolent and a killer, no doubt, but ultimately just a child searching for his daddy-- and he saves the "hero" in the end! I'm looking forward to the soon-to-be released anniversary version of this incredible film.

2. The first X-men movie I didn't realize Magneto was the bad guy
until it was too late I had been rooting for him the whole time.

Also I always root for the shark in Jaws sequels.

22. See, that's the thing...
Magneto isn't really that bad a guy. He just sees a different solution to the problem.

17. Love that movie......
One of the last of the movies to have an ambiguous main character--a man capable of both ugly violence and great sensitivity toward a child.

I'm not so sure I was sorry he died, but I was sorry his life was such a waste.

9. Frank-N-Furter
I'm not too clear about the exact nature of his mission to Earth but, had he succeeded, we'd all be a lot sexier.

15. Your photo alone makes my day worthwhile.
Thank you for posting it. My goodness gracious, has it been almost 30 years since I first saw this film at the now-long-gone King's Court Theater in Pittsburgh? Indeed, it has been.

Long live Dr. Frank-N-Furter!

19. LOL, I hadn't even read this thread when I posted him
in the "movie characters you hated to see die" thread.

I just went to Rocky a couple of weeks ago. Tim Curry just ate that role up.

16. This wasn't a movie, it was a TV show
But in the episode of Batman Beyond when Mr. Freeze came back, I must admit I got a little misty-eyed when he died at the end. Likewise for the episode of the 90s Batman cartoon when Clayface melted in the rain and 'died'. (Of course, this being a comic book based thing, he ended up coming back. But we didn't know that at the time.)
