:woohoo:

Someone please pick up the hide-a-bed...so I do not have to haul it somewhere.

1. A hide-a-bed?
That's kind of a big thing!

But somebody will probably take it!

Good for you, my dear KW!

:woohoo:

3. I posted a CL ad with our address, saying there is a hide-a-bed
And that they need to have their own truck and people to help load it.

:)

2. You do have a big ole 'FREE' sign on it, right?
Unless you're way off the beaten path someone will probably scavenge it.

5. Big Ol' Free Sign - CHECK!
Everything in my city is off the beaten path (we are in a planned community - no homes on the main thoroughfares - thus the CL ad).

6. Good luck with the CL ad.
Our best way to offload big stuff is through local charities. Our county trash collection includes two recycle/reuse pickup days for smaller furniture, and large furniture is picked up by the hospice society because they maintain a chain of thrift stores.

I must admit it was easier when I lived in a city. Even though I lived on a side street all free furniture disappeared within a day because the street was near areas where college students and low income families lived.

8. You need the right sign.
I read that someone had an old sofa out on the curb with a FREE sign. It just sat. Finally, they changed the sign to FOR SALE. And it was quickly stolen.

14. Isn't that a great feeling?
We always put out our crap the evening before garbage day and take bets on how long it'll be before somebody boosts it--freestanding basketball hoop without the bolts to hold it together, TV that totally shit the bed, whatever. It's always gone well before the garbagemen actually come around the next morning. When we put out the lawnmower that hadn't worked in three years, we were literally peeking out from behind the living room curtains like we were watching a hidden camera: "Here's a live one--look at all that stuff in his pickup....He's gonna go for it....No, no he isn't....Wait, he made a stop across the street first....Here he comes....C'mon, c'mon....YES!!" Happy dance ensues.

No disrespect to the folks who shop the curb--hell, if they can make it work, more power to 'em--that means less stuff that'll end up in the landfill.

19. I also a have a queensize sleeper couch to unload but
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 03:47 PM by Breeze54
not only will I hang a "FREE!! Take me!" sign on it but I'll post a notice at the local colleges! ;)

Otherwise; I'll have to rent a truck to haul it and pay $50 to dump it!

I put an old and rusted, propane grill out front and it was gone in less than an hour!!

21. In a well armed society, people would clean up your driveway faster... just to be polite
and to avoid getting shot.
