Artists and Artistic types in NY and New England Area: This weekend
There is a great open art show which you can participate in.

It is a serious happening and you are invited to submit art and come for the fun:

LOTS of cool things going on.

If you are anywhere near I-95 and Connectcut and this hip little city (home of the Playwright Eugene O'Neill) you definitely SHOULD take a ride down and check this out. It is totally outrageous fun.

VERY different.

1. If anyone is going to go dumail me and I may meet you for a beer
or something.

Or respond here.

It is worth a ride from anywhere. Guaranteed.

Now some of you may not WANT to meet me or my crazy family.

But we will be there.

5. Have you been there? Tell me about it?
Would it be worth me bringing a painting up? Do people sell? Is it a networking thing? Is it a "Galleries come up and look" kind of thing? Is it a poorly put-together college-kid kind of thing?

I read the web-site, but other than the obvious dedication to not censoring, it really doesn't say much.

7. I am friends with several artists and performers in the show.
If your work is good and you put cards or contact info with the art (and price) it might get interest, Mostly it is an incredible art and performance event which lets you network with world reknown artists as well as shlubs who do provocative pieces. It is wide open.

It is a happening created by artists for artists and for the public based on the salon des independents in Paris who rejected the commercial side and hung their art in cafes etc.

It is REALLY incredible. But bundle up. Bring a piece of art work to hang for free (for big pieces come early as space goes fast)

The performance art and screening room also features awesome film/videowork (last year featured plan columbia - a few years ago they had star maps)as well as amateurs. But the atmosphere is supportive and wide open. Last year they had an ode to strippers and sex workers performance act in a political women's lib piece by strippers and mothers. There is tons of political artwork and the tshirts and posters are awesome (bring some change)

All the bars on this street and in the area and the galleries open up (this is the seaport town of ONeill with sailors and hookers dockworkers and dives, winos and thugs, stockbrokers and artists and writers.

It is like a winter mardi gras and very very wild, There is also a kids art show as well.

6. Cool
Go to the Dutch Tavern for a Beer in the evening - it is 2 blocks from the art show itself and is the watering hole for most of the artists and I will look for you. Ask anyone where it is (on Green Street - which is only two blocks long) I expect to be in the area around 6 or so.

See, see! (In case anyone out there had any notions regarding New London.)

don't mind this post, as it likely makes little sense (but it does to me)

10. I like it a lot.
I lived there for years. It is becoming an artists colony and the economy is good because of the casinos. Housing is expensive though.
