How much of what other people post do you accept as fact?
I always wonder how other people treat this - not just here but in any Internet interaction. For myself, unless something is so over the top that it seems completely unlikely, I tend to accept it with the knowledge and understanding that I have no way of knowing one way or another.

How do you see it?

the benefit of the doubt...
and see what happens. Usually you can tell
when people are making things up....

4. For those "He said/she said" type posts
I just keep in mind that I'm only hearing one side of the story.

6. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt.
Some stories are just really over the top (i.e. I saw a freeper eating a baby when I was protesting for impeachment at the Walmart and I told him off. He then became a vegan.) and I generally see those as amusing or sad. But it's generally hard to tell what's true or not and I assume that most people have no reason to lie.

With that said, some stories are obviously false. Some people post repeatedly about situations and the stories have changed over time to provoke more and more outrage or pity. They're just asshats.

7. Most of the stuff I hear...
...I treat as if it's the truth. I have no way of verifying, and I refuse to think everyone I interact with is lying through their teeth. Maybe that's why I miss so much of the drama.

8. you mean as personal stories? Oh I am pretty trusting (or gullible if that is your perpective)
I tend to take things at face value, until I get burned. Then depending on the burn I either blow them off of hold a grudge.

If it is a topic subject I tend to judge based on my knowledge and experience. If it is something I am knowledgeable about it I don't hesitate to call bullshit or correct the info.

9. Generally, unless something is WAAAY out there, or they have a history of dishonesty on a certain
topic..or it's :tinfoilhat:, i try to take what people say at face value.

10. except for you
i believe most things here

:P

just kidding

seriously i take a lot of things with a grain of salt, but i give most people the benefit of the doubt.

there are a few posters here that will post almost the same shit every day with a different twist... i don't believe that they are very real, quite transparent as a matter of fact.

otherwise

i believe!

11. I believe everything I read on-line...
and I think that is what makes me more of a selective human, than someone who doesn't believe anything.

12. Are you talking about personal histories?
If so, I tend to take them at face value until maybe something in their story just doesn't add up. Then depending on my level of involvement with that individual it's a case of how much I care to understand. Are they just not saying everything? Are they making stuff up whole cloth?

As for knowledge in general, I tend to be able to spot when someone isn't making sense.. their arguments don't provide enough logical underpinning to be believable to me. THey use a lot of flowery rhetorical games in hopes I and other readers don't notice their facts don't present a cohesive whole.

Can you sum it up for me, so that I can refute it?
