what car did you learn to drive in?
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 11:12 AM by Beaker
(i don't mean the Driver's Ed car at the school)

mine was a brown 1972 Dodge Charger SE 440/4bbl...it was my parent's first new car.

I think it greatly influenced the way I drive, to this day.

Manual Transmission, of course.
Almost all driving schools use Golfs here; learning without a school/ a certified instructor is not an option. Thus the licence is easily as expensive as the first car.

56. 1980 Chevy LUV pickup
I actually bought it new without knowing how to drive it. I'd gotten my driver license through the Sears driving school (and who knows what those cars were, some generic POS sedans), but the LUV was a 4-speed, and I'd only driven a manual once before (my brother's 1958 pickup, with 3 on the column). I had to have my big brother drive my brand-new truck home for me, then I learned to drive in it. I did have to replace the clutch at 80,000 miles - not too surprising with a brand-new driver.

I kept that truck for 22 years.
