5. Yes, it is.
:hi: And I think I read somewhere that the song wasn't really about W&M, anyway.

9. I was singing the wrong song.
I also didn't know Deacon Blues was about Wake Forest.
Did you know the Cornhuskers used to be called the Bug Eaters?

It's especially fun to watch the pug.

12. Did you know that Wake Forest used to be located in Wake Forest NC?
That's where the name comes from. Some giant corporation paid them big bucks to move their entire campus.

Really.

More stuff I didn't know. But I know it now.
And, yet, I don't feel any more useful.

7. Haha, I hope you don't mean "Deacon Blues."
"They call Alabama the Crimson Tide" is only a passing reference to the 'Tide, and the idea that "Deacon Blues" refers in content to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons is an urban legend. I don't know how Fagen/Becker got the name "Deacon Blues" (though Becker reportedly called it a "grandiose name" just like the "Crimson Tide"), but the song is nothing to do with football/college and everything to do with a daydreaming perennial loser wanting to make it as a backstreets musician, and is coated in shades of autobiography. The song is not "about" the University of Alabama or Wake Forest; it merely references the 'Tide and has a tenuous connection, at best, to the Demon Deacons.
