Mine was Rock With You by Michael Jackson

A song from the era before he went batshit crazy.

59. "The Ballad..." was not a bigger hit in America because
it only received limited airplay due to more conservative radio programmers balking at the chorus containing the line "Christ, you know it ain't easy!" It did manage to make it to #8, but that *was* a relatively low showing for a Beatles single.

Another piece of trivia about that one: it only features John and Paul playing. In fact, out of appreciation to Paul for helping him on the song he credited the Plastic Ono Band song "Give Peace a Chance" to Lennon/McCartney, even though Paul didn't have anything to do with it and, as a non-Beatles single the Lennon/McCartney credit wasn't obligatory.

On the U.S. charts, it was "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens. I hate that song with the heat of 1,000 suns! :grr:

UK - "Moon River" by Danny Williams
Aus - "When the Girl in Your Arms is the Girl in Your Heart" by Cliff Richard

Those I am sure are much more palatable.

93. Engelbert Humperdinck is a stolen name.
The real one lived from 1854 to 1921. Born in Siegburg, Germany.

He wrote the children's opera Hansel and Gretel (1893), which is often done at Xmastime by opera companies. It's great fun. The "Evening Prayer" is famous.

Yes I know lots and lots of useless information.

67. wow i think i was in 5th grade back then
I remembered Rhythm Nation but not this one until i youtube'd it.

not many R&B type acts have a metal guitar lead in them today hehe.

I take affront to what she says at the beginning "Ain't no acid in this house." Well obviously, because that is not an Acid House song. Acid House music kicks a lot more ass than JJ does. But it does bring up the question....How come every Acid song has some person saying "Acid" or "There's Acid in the house" etc?

It appears that Paper Lace's version preceded Bo Donaldson's by a few months. Paper Lace hit #1 in the UK with it, but Bo's version was the US #1 hit. The Paper Lace eventually made it to #1 later in the year with "The Night Chicago Died"
