31. Billyskank!! It's good to see you...
I'd been concerned.

And no, I think it has to be a billygoat. Baseball curses are very specific.

15. do they still play the blues in chicago
when baseball season rolls around
when the snow melts away do the cubbies still play
in their ivy covered burial ground

when i was a boy they were my pride and joy
but now they only bring fatigue
to the home of the brave and the land of the free
and the doormat of the national league

*******************************

i usually find myself dragging that steve goodman song out instead, after we get humiliated in the playoffs.

19. I love that song!
Bittersweet at it's best.

'But you, you the living are stuck here with the Cubs so it is ME who feels sorry for YOU!'

Steve Goodman was the greatest Cub fan of all time, Woo-woo is second.

22. ronnie "woo" wickman falls into third behind...
...the late steve goodman and my late grandfather.

********************
have the cubbies run out to the middle of the field
have keith moreland drop a routine fly
give everybody two bags of popcorn and a frosty malt
and i'll be ready to die
***********************

is wickman still alive? does he still go to the games? i remember when he was living on the streets, begging for a ticket to get into the game. then he became a minor celebrity and was living off donations from the fans and the team. i bought him a beer once before he became famous...he was nearly toothless and ragged. years later one afternoon, i was sitting in a bar on clark street with harry waller and in walks wickman with two nice looking suburban babes after a home game. i just had to laugh.

WOO SANDBERG!!!
WOO BOWA!!!
WOO DURHAM!!!

25. Ronnie Woo Woo Wickers lives a life that an average Joe
Cub fan can only dream of. He used to be just a minor celeb, now he is ubiquitous around Wrigleyville and even getting mentioned on broadcasts. The thing I love about Woo is when we're 15 game out in Sept, it's late in the game and we are losing, yet you hear this relentless wooing coming from the bleachers. The announcers are forced to say something like, 'well Ronnie Woo Woo is obviously at the ballpark today.' I love it!

Woo has a way with the women, he is always twirling around some blonde dancing around after the game while the bands play. Pure joy IMO!

My father has to be pretty high on the list of Cub fans, born in '46 one year after our last pennant and died in '81. He never even saw his beloved team make the playoffs (neither did SG unless he was like 1). I couldn't drop the Cubs under any circumstance, they mean too much.

CUBS WOOOOOOOO!

24. the cubs/redsox dream series lost its coolness after the red sox won
but while they were the two teams with the longest world series drought, it was my dream series.

i figured both teams were cursed and incapable of winning, so in the bottom of the ninth during game seven, while the score was tied, jesus would have returned and his landing would have caused a huge fault to open right through the middle of wrigley field, swallowing both teams and all the fans.

we weren't ready for armegeddon, so it's for the best that it didn't happen.

21. Nah
You might win tomorrow — Wells is 6-8, 5.46, but he looked pretty good in his last start. Still, I don't think he's got it anymore. Lilly's having a really good year, but we're 23-16 against left-handers.

Thursday's game, Lowe against Marquis — I'd call that a toss-up. Lowe has a habit of giving up homers at just the wrong time, and we don't score runs for him.

26. Not for long.
Go, Brewers!

The last time a team from Milwaukee won the Series was 1957. I think 2007 would be an appropriate year to win it all.

28. This Giants fan is rooting for the Cubs
The Cubs is one of my favorite teams in the National league, and seeing how my team crashed and burned this year, I'm supporting them.

We live in goat country (ten thousand head in a seven mile radius), and there is no way I'll kiss a Billy goat, although the herdsmen tell me the Nanny goats are really fine, and the Billy goats don't object much to sharing. ;)

32. Cubs fans are overrated
Poseurs who are more interesting in drinking lite beer and being seen.

Cardinal fans are real fans who know their baseball, even if they are disturbingly polite.

White Sox fans are refugees from an episode of "Cops". Same thing goes for the Phillies.

Red Sox fans are a neurotic mess.

Yankee fans are pompous assholes.
