Cheapness would be a plus too. Prefferably one that can go up to 5 Lbs in at least one ounce increments and NOT be flimsily constructed.

1. My stepdaughter got me a good one for Christmas.
I think this is the one.

The thing that's great about it is the tare function. For example, you can put a bowl on the scale, hit tare, and the weight zeroes out. Then toss in some ingrediant, weigh it, press tare again, toss in another ingrediant, etc.

It only goes up to 4 lbs, but that has been enough so far.

the ORCA gloves over the weekend.

"This space-age silcone oven mitt is one of the hottest kitchen products on the market right now. Fearlessly grasp a scalding hot ear of corn or grab a steaming lobster while wearing this waterproof, slip-resistant oven mitt. Since it is heat-resistant to 500° F, the mitt allows you to safely immerse your hand in boiling water. The award-winning design fits either hand. Made of injection-molded, food grade silicone, it is dishwasher safe and will not stain or discolor. Perfect for the grill, too! From ISI."

6. That's pretty cool.
We are about due for a new oven mitt too:).

Alton uses welding gloves, but that seems a bit excessive.

4. Go to a head shop
they've got excellent low-weight, high-accuracy scales that they use to measure...I dunno....maybe postage or something.

Postal meter might work too.

5. Actually a far better source for *that* type of scale

would be www.stealitback.com. Unfortuanately most of those are a little on the small side. Seems concealability is important to some scale buyers.
