Anyone here brew their own sake?

Looking for recipes - I have a good buzz on, and it occurred to me that if people can brew their own beer, well... :beer: :toast:

Have a Japanese friend, and he thought it would be fun, so I figured what the hell...

MHO is that sake is an acquired taste if you didn't grow up with it...and I haven't acquired the taste, so I really couldn't judge.

Kenichi said it was OK...got him drunk but wasn't as good as the 'real' stuff. :shrug:

Still, you'll want to go to either a store that sells brewing supplies or at least a website that sells various kinds of brewing yeast, I don't think regular storebought bread yeast will cut it with sake. :) It works for some things, but last yeast chart I checked said that it only goes up to 12% alcohal, and from my own experience with it, it tends to need a lot of starch/sugar left in the environment, leading to overly sweet drinks.
