Imagine ruling as the gods of an entire genre for more than 40 years - Sabbath appreciation thread

Here they are in 1970, kicking the world's collective ass out of Paris:

And here they are in 2005, 35 years after the first video, still kicking the world's collective ass:

40+ years they've been playing, and Iomi's opening note on Iron Man is still the sound that says "We are the gods; you are not, and still none of you shitpiles can touch us".

I hope another band can come along to replace them, because the world needs a good heavy metal band at all times, and Sabbath are getting older.

Sabbath - more than 40 years, and still untouched, still standing on the top of the Mt. Olympus of heavy metal as the only true gods.

God bless 'em!

The only thing can touch them is the years they had Dio - holy shit, those were good years! Dio's voice simply cannot be matched.

1. Ozzy fucking rules. No debate on that one.

2. I have to agree on Dio. The quintessential metal pipes.
Ozzy was Ozzy, but his voice is far too whiny.

3. Sabbath
is an awesome band! I do think Metallica at their peak approached Sabbath's greatness but never quite attained it.

6. Yes, Metallica came awfully close!
Queensryche could have had a shot, too; as well as Iron Maiden.

But none of them quite went far enough.

Of them all, though, Metallica was probably the closest.

5. Metal gods indeed!
Black Sabbath playing their self titled song of delicious dread and horror.
