What flower is this?? I Love it!
I see this growing all over the wall by the liquor store and I find it fascinating as well as beautiful.
Is it native to SoCal?

5. Here's one I photographed a few days ago. It is rather rare.


This type is ordinarily purple, but I found a mutant all white version.

And here's the icky part:

The bracts of Passiflora foetida are covered by hairs which exude a sticky fluid. Many insects get stuck to this. Studies have suggested that this may be an adaptation similar to that seen in carnivorous plants. (Radhamani, et al)
