Doggie DNA
We just got the results of a DNA test that we did on two of our rescued dogs. These two boys are looking for a home.

They were listed as Pit bull mixes. According to the tests results they are Shar-Pei/Shepherd/Chow mixes.

3. they can tell breed from DNA?
wow...do you have a link I can go to and read up about this, or any articles?

thanks so much for posting those pics and flvegan for mentioning Plott hound. I have been trying to figure out where the dog that I adopted a year ago gets his brindle from...he has no physical pit characteristics whatsoever. He's predominately german shepherd, doesn't seem much like a boxer at all, is not really large enough to be dane (but plenty big at 90-100 lbs). He could easily have some Plott hound in him, I didn't know that breed was brindle.

Those dogs are just gorgeous and very unique looking. The one lying down looks very much like a chow in the face. Does the seated one have a hurt paw on the right side? It looks like it is at a strange angle in the picture.

5. The link is here...
http://www.mmigenomics.com/CHBTKits/order.php

This is who did ours and in a couple of months they will have more breeds that can be identified. Unless one of the parents is a pure-breed, they can't give you a primary indentifier, but they can still give you all the secondary if they fall into the breeds they have DNA indentifiers.

No hurt paw...it might be just a weird light.
