My cat just made "That Sound"
You know...the I'm getting ready to barf sound? The "please throw me in the bathtub before a tube of orange mess comes lurching out of my body" sound. I didn't make it in time.

1. Aaah!
Very familiar with that sound! Sorry you didn't make it. We usually let ours have it out on the floor and then deal with it rather than try to snatch her up and run. Thankfully, she's learned to get herself down off the bed when she feels that coming on.

2. With three cats, I know that sound all too well.
There has only been one time since I moved into my new place that they've hit any of the vinyl flooring, the rest has been on furniture or carpeting. BLECH!

3. have you ever watched
A Wish for Wings that Work?

It's an Opus Christmas movie. Bill the Cat has a large supporting role.

He makes that (h)aaaaaaccccgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhkkkkkkkk sound in the movie several times.

Occasionally my son (13) will make that sound (WHY? dear god, why does he do that IN PUBLIC?) and I always say something like, "nice gagging, Bill. Need a tissue?".

7. One of my cats--the smart one--will actually go to the recycling bin
or the nearest newspaper when he feels that sound coming on. I think he got tired of me grabbing him and throwing him onto a newspaper.

The others, however, are not this considerate.

11. Yeah. He's scary smart.
He and my beagle are best friends, and I fear what might happen if they were to turn on me. Still, I think it might be like Pinky and the Brain. No matter how clever Leon's plans, Gracie will muck them up...and I'll never know.

12. That's what my Shamu does
And tosses me this look like "Geez, Mom, do ya mind?! I'm tryin' to puke here!"

Sophia goes off and does it in secret, leaving me a surprise for later.

17. Mine gack so much I don't even notice the sound
Edited on Thu Jul-12-07 11:23 PM by lizziegrace
I've come home from work and had to clean up some nice offerings. The worst was when Gracie got the windowsill, curtains and the wall.

It's a good thing they're cute and I love them dearly. ;)

18. My cat learned I want him to do it outside
When I hear that sound I open the door and just say 'outside, Barfy Kitty!' and he'll try to make it, honestly, he'll run out that door. But now that I've moved and he can't go outside at the drop of a pin I'll have to deal with it differently ... He does go outside now, but only if I'm home, the door's open, and he feels like it. There's loose dogs out there sometime and he is cautious about when he wants to go out for some fresh air. He's such a smart kitty!

He hasn't had a barf-up since we been here . . . . a couple weeks now.

at the people posting who have cats smart enough to know where and when to barf. Can they please talk to my orange kitties?
