Help! If I buy a cell phone with a camera
Edited on Sat Jun-16-07 10:00 AM by leftyladyfrommo
do I have to have all the pictures developed at once? Or is there a way to take 3 or 4 pictures and have them printed. And then maybe do 3 or 4 more?

I petsit and I would like to take pictures of my clients pets and have them printed and put in a little cardboard frame for them - just as a kind of memento and to say thankyou.

The cell phone I have now is a Nokia and doesn't have a camera feature. I'm wondering if I should bother with replacing it.

1. Try a Treo.
My Treo saves images in jpg format and transfers them to the computer when I sync the data. I can then move them around to folders as I please or print out what I want.

2. Dude, if you want take pictures, don't buy a camera PHONE.
Buy an inexpensive digital camera, maybe with a printer. Camera phones pictures suck. They are not worth the money. And no, you don't have to have them all printed at once. You can pick and choose, but like I said, printing from pictures phones do not yield good pictures, and usually they're not much bigger than a locket sized print anyway.

3. depends on the service but for most you pay per pic to upload to a site
and then you can copy the files and do whatever you want with them. some phones now are able to be coneected to a computer so maybe you can upload them directly.
verizon charges 25 cents per upload.

4. You can probably get a free one
If your happy with your carrier ask them if you can get a free phone if you sign up for one of those notorious 2 year contracts.

Glad to hear the pet sitting business you told me about is still going, so is mine but now I've got health insurance for $88 a month.

10. It's health insurance that's like car insurance
Only there when you need it and only for what you need. No Dr. visits for a cold or ingrown toenail, etc.

Emergency room (no-deductible), heart attack, cancer, specialists, prescription discount (not co-pay), stuff like that.

It's called "Golden Rule" and it's through United.

6. Cellphones take shitty pictures.
Cellphones don't use film. You can't drop it off and have pictures printed from it. You need to put them on your computer before you can do anything with them. You could buy a printer to print prints.. But, like I said, they will look like shit. Buy a real digital camera. You can get one for less than 100$. Or use a camera that uses actual film.

8. Important for the OP's purposes.
A memento deserves better-quality imagery than I think one can get from any phone. Phone pictures don't seem to look good anywhere but on a phone's tiny screen.

7. The current Consumer Reports rates digital cameras. Go to your friendly bookseller ...
... and check out the mag. Get yourself a CR best-buy digital camera ... they've got various sizes of camera rated (including very portable ones), and give you all the info you need to buy the best for your purposes.

11. I have T-Mobile. Came with a free camera phone
They had better phones, but those cost money... :-)

It works well for me, because I can take pictures of my son and send them to my parents, etc., while out having some fun. It's not good for serious picture taking, but it is good for casual use.

With T-Mobile, I get a free photo album with 25 Mb of storage. Each time I take a picture with my camera phone, it asks me if I want to send it to "My Album". I press "Yes", and it starts uploading the picture. Takes less than two minutes. And I can take more pictures while it's uploading. It will make a queue

This way, I can clean out the phone's limited memory after I finish uploading my pictures. I can also link to pictures, like this:
