Damn - local movie prices went up
went to see a Shrek the Third matinee today, and it was $7!!!

And I noted that the regular admission price is now $9 during the week, and $9.50 on Fridays and Saturdays!!

Damn... now it REALLY makes sense to wait and buy the DVD.

2. Our local AMC went up in price recently too
$9.50 for a regular ticket and $7.50 for a matinee. It's a buck or two cheaper for a student discount, I'm holding onto my college ID until I have gray hair and I can get the senior discount...lol

3. Don't blame the theater... The studio gets most of the money..
Each screen with all the Digital audio formats is about 100K to install (I used to do it). A Bulb that last 2500 hours is about 1000$. The theater pays the bills with popcorn and soda. Actually, ticket sales are on a sliding scale. First week the MPAA make 95% and the theater gets 5%... This slides over time. About five weeks in it goes 50/50.

6. Both make tons of cash...
It's just:

MPAA :: Money from tickets
Theater :: Money from concession sales

And both pay the employees shit..

5. You know what the funny thing is?
Hollywood can't figure out why ticket sales are going down year after year.
