Longstreet is not well thought of in the South for three reasons; he argued with Lee on the eve of Gettysburg, he was right, and he became a Republican after the war.

I wonder if maybe Lee's heart condition was not letting him think straight.

21. Some pictures from my Hawaiian trip last month

Yeah, I like to play golf so I was usually in my golf gear even while sightseeing after the round. The first one is on the Pali Golf Course in Oahu.




This one is at Iao Valley in Maui.





Somehow I hit the fairway for a change. This is at the Pali Golf Course. The famous Pali Lookout, with its incredible view of the windward side of Oahu, is in the background of this picture, above the Pali Highway.

This place was spectacular. It is the Waimea Canyon, the so-called Grand Canyon of Hawaii:





Now the obligatory guy climbing a coconut tree. It's one of the highlights of the Samoan island at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu:





This is the King Kamehameha statue, across the street from the Iolani Palace in Oahu. Fans of Hawaii 5-0 would recognize the Iolani Palace as 5-0 headquarters. This building was often used for a court house on Hawaii 5-0.

I never posted pictures on this site before. I'll get it out of my system :)

This was perhaps my favorite stop on the trip, Volcanoes National Park. That's lava around my rental car. You drive through mile after mile of lava fields and the road is closed near the ocean due to recent lava flow that wiped out the road:




Here's the great view of Waikiki Beach while looking down from the top of Diamond Head. The trek to the top of Diamond Head was more than I expected. Good thing I went early before the heat of the day:




This is the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, as viewed from the USS Missouri, which is the ship where the peace treaty ending WW II was signed in Tokyo Bay in September 1945:



Okay, last one. Here's the ship I took, the Pride of Hawaii, docked off Kona since that port can't handle ships of this size. It will be short lived in the Hawaiian islands since cruise prices have plunged due to too many ships, and NCL is losing money. Pride of Hawaii will be docked next year and refitted for transfer to the Caribbean. The golf course on Kona was the best one I played:
