Does Juliet get busted?

And I've got 4, count'em, 4 hours to go here in the Pacific Time Zone.

Kate and Sayid are solid.

There are no snakes native to Pacific Islands.

That is why it has been such a disaster on Guam with the snake species brought there accidentally (believed by a Navy ship during WWII). With no natural enemies, this snake species has over run the island and wrecked havoc on the native bird population.

Another snake species was brought to Hawaii, and has proliferated there, but apparently has done no harm to local fauna.

On edit: Are the Losties on a Pacific Island? I guess I was just assuming they were cause the show is filmed in Hawaii.

Why do they kill off the best characters?

Is Locke going to die, now?
It sure looks like it.

His final moments are in a pit with decomposed bodies/
skeletons of the Dharma people?

I don't give a flying damn about Jacob right now- that will change,
though. I'm too angry---LOCKE !?!?!

WTH?!?

What are the writers smoking, or shooting for that matter?

I AM PISSED!!! The dumbest move in television script writing to date!!!

You don't kill off your best characters, buttheads!
Maybe in the grand finale- but not now!
Take another script writing class!!

63. I went frame-by-frame through that, and it was a man in profile with long hair.
And a strong nose with a bit of bulb on the end of it. Looked like he had no facial hair, but was scruffy. There were about 10 frames with him in it, very dark. It almost seemed as if he had a flower in his hair (though that could have been anything as it was in the shadows), and I had the impression that he was wearing some sort of tunic, like a monk's robes. But that's a stretch, as you can only see him from about mid torso up, from the side, and again, very dark and a bit blurry.

He writes columns about each Lost episode that are at least as interesting as the show. He finds loads of references--biblical, literary, historical.

41. Ben's gassing of the Dharma camp must have happened in '88.
That is the same year Rousseau and her crewmates landed on the island. Remember, in her distress call, she claims all of her crewmates died (or she had to kill them all, I can't remember).

My SO's theory was correct (it was also a popular one on fan forums): the Others are a separate entity from the Dharma Initiative.

47. Just when I was about to give up on LOST they won me back
Is Jacob the island "monster"? Can he control the black smoke? Is he the black smoke? When did Ben meet Jacob? Is Jacob a prisoner of Ben? Why would Jacob ask for Locke's help and why does this piss off Ben so badly? I think Jacob is the source of whatever power Ben has somehow and Locke is a direct threat because of whatever healing power Locke possesses. If Locke can give Ben and himself the physical strength of walking again, maybe he can help Jacob become strong enough to take on physical form?

I also want to know more about the French woman's daughter and how she became known as Ben's daughter. I can't remember if the French woman brought her newborn daughter with her when they landed on the island or if she was preggers and gave birth to her on the island. I'm assuming Ben stole the girl and she probably doesn't know that Ben isn't her biological father but she certainly has her mom's independent streak in her.

I'm ready to buy the LOST episodes now. I'll probably wait 'till the show is over before doing so (this is what I did with West Wing) but until then I need to rent the last season and re-watch this season when it comes out. Too much start/stop in the middle of the seasons...hard to retain all the info.

then she cannot be also Ben's. Remember, it was the French woman who trapped Ben and brought him to the camp last season, when he assumed the identity of someone who was buried there, under a parachute.

52. So here's what I got out of the episode, in no particular order
- The other Others all seem in awe of Locke. When he was beating Mikhail, no one lifted a finger, and it's clearly not because they physically can't stop him.

- Every time Locke gets all uppity, either someone dies or something blows up.

- That said, I don't think Locke dies. He got shot in the lung, which took a day and a half for Naomi to heal from. Given Locke's ability to heal on the island, it probably won't even take that long.

- Ben definitely got threatened by Locke. That Locke took command in the camp (Mikhail's beating scene), that Locke heard Jacob, and that Locke was threatening to tell the Others about Ben's bullshit. Ben's becoming unraveled, big time.

- Jacob IS real. He was definitely in that chair. Why was he mostly invisible, though?

- Was that volcanic ash that Locke was inspecting on the way to Jacob's cabin?

- Speaking of the volcano... I think it's particularly important about what the teacher was saying and the experiment. Annie asked if the eruption occurred for the same reason the experiment worked, and the teacher said yes. Could this be the "incident"? If so, is this why the button needed to be pushed? If so, is there another eruption pending?

- Richard does not age. I don't think it's coincidental that Ben asked him if he still remembers what birthdays are.

- Where did the hostiles come from? Better question - why is Dharma still dropping supplies? Better question - obviously, Richard has mainland connections, and therefore, the hostiles have a source of enormous funding (after all, how could they support the sub and the Mittelos Bioscience rouse?), so where does that funding come from? Perhaps Charles Widmore? (Penelope's dad)

- In looking at the previews, could Rousseau be in on Jack and Juliet's plan? Is this why she grabbed the crate of dynamite from the Black Rock in the previous episode?

- Annie, I believe, was the hostile's legal enforcer - I think that was the name of the person conducting the investigation and trial of Juliet.

I'm sure there's more, but goddamn, looking at the list, that's a whole lot of reveals for one, non-season-ending episode. We're headed towards something big in the final two episodes of the season - that much is assured.

55. I like the richard theory.
It wasn't like putting a hairpiece on Locke to make him look a decade younger- Richard was THE EXACT SAME AGE as he is now. You figure, if Ben is roughly in his 40s, then Richard would be in his 50's by now, and he obviously isn't. I strongly doubt this was a casting error.

57. I wonder about the whole not aging/healing fast thing
Seems like some folks like Richard and Locke are in tune with the island's energy, so it works to their advantage (and Locke saw the smoke monster and wasn't afraid), while others aren't (like Eko, they see the scary smoke monster, can be hurt, die, etc.) That could be the energy that the Dharma Initiative was attempting to work with "for good", like the video said. If that's the case, then Ben is a poser who is not in tune with the island--he ages while Richard doesn't, and he attributed his fast healing to Locke's presence, so he feels threatened by Locke, who is "the real deal".

88. I agree with a lot of this, and I really
don't think Locke is down for the count. If Mikhail can rise from the apparently dead, then Locke should be a slam dunk. Though, I'm betting they'll let us wonder about that for a while and then bring him back as a deus ex machina at some point.

Oh well, McLeod's Daughters on DVD will keep my Friday evenings occupied until then.

I thought he was the guy, those unmistakable eerie-like eyelined-looking eyes of his -
here's from the Lost wiki about him:

http://lost.wikia.com/wiki/Richard_Alpert

Richard Alpert was an employee of Mittelos BioScience, and was looking to recruit Juliet Burke into joining their team. Richard later ended up on the island alongside Juliet as a member of "the Others"....

but, the hair and clothing sort of look circa 18th century.

I don't suppose it's Jacob Roggeveen, a Dutch explorer who was sent to find Terra Australis (Latin for "unknown land of the south"), but he instead came across Easter Island by chance.

The first description of Easter Island's inhabitants by Jacob Roggeveen claimed that the population consisted of two distinctive ethnic groups, one being clearly Polynesian and the other "white" and of large stature.

After all, isn't that the whole reason he was on the sailboat, to prove something to her father?

Interestingly, while I was searching for info on that, came across this:

http://tviv.org/Lost/Desmond_Hume

"Little is known about Desmond Hume's early life, save for the fact that he was unable to finish university as he had to look after his three brothers after something happened to their father. However, Desmond did work as a set designer for the Royal Shakespeare Company in this time period."

Interesting.

109. Annie=Danielle Rousseau.
I heard this one on a Lost forum, and while skeptical at first, I'm coming around to this theory.

1. Annie is conspicuously absent during the Dharma purge. Considering the close relationship between Annie and Ben, wouldn't her whereabouts be addressed during the whole thing if she were murdered?

2. This really would make Alex Ben's child. The child of Ben and Annie, that is.

3. There's the whole Danielle being French issue, but perhaps the Dharma purge traumatized her to such an extent that she became delusional. I presume her distress call occurred shortly after Ben massacred the Dharma camp.

Just something. It may be absurd, but I like it. :)
