WTF is wrong with me?

i've had two candy bars this week. CANDY BARS! i don't eat candy. WTF is wrong with me? a sourdough burger last night -- and fries and a real coke. more burger king on wednesday. too many cokes. pastries today. pastries yesterday. i don't eat sweets!! the last few weeks, for dinner, i've often had TWO frozen dinners, sometimes lean cuisines but sometimes not.

and did i mention the two pieces of toast for dessert every other night this week? :wtf:

I am a compulsive overeater (much the way a drunk is always a drunk). It's been under control for quite a while. I have lost 40 pounds since July last year, but have leveled out and lost no more for the last four months. Now I'm creeping upward. And this compulsive eating all of a sudden -- where did it come from?!

:banghead:

1. The planets are in turmoil - things will improve today, tomorrow.
But that junk food momentum - oh, I hear you!

2. i could be boredom with whatever program you're doing.
after losing 60 pounds i hit a plateau for about a months or so, to keep myself from giving up and eating everything in sight i would brush my teeth or eat altoids, you really don't want to eat anything after that.

3. Bertha - sometimes we all cave in to our compulsions....
I have had ice cream every night this week - and seriously craving spicy meat at every meal. I have a serious cold though - and justify it this way...

Congrats on losing 40 pounds in the past 9 months! That is a serious accomplishment, and you should not be so hard on yourself right now. When the weather changes, I find that I crave some things more than others.

Just make sure you are eating a hearty bread when you have that toast - and try 3 musketeers if you want a candy bar - they have less fat and calories ;-)

Just be sure you are good to yourself.

8. Sure thing!
I have battled with weight for years now. I am at a level that is acceptable (not optimal, but acceptable) to me now. If you ever need anything, feel free to PM me.

7. I've had exactly the same thing happen to me recently
Last year I dropped 50 lbs. But since last month I have been constantly craving things that I previously gave up. My aunt also had this happen to her and recommended that I try drinking a lot of Powerade. She said that it could be a salt craving or electrolytes. I've tried drinking a lot of Powerade and water to keep the "full feeling". I wonder if it's an alergy thing with all of the pollen that's been covering the cars around here, but I've gained back about ten pounds and I dont like it. I hope that the water and Powerade help me feel full so that I will stop grazing on everything that I have in the house. I'm almost tempted to stop buying groceries until I level off again.

"Good idea, NightWatcher, but I can't do that because I'm diabetic."

10. Hey, you fell off and you are recognizing it as an issue with yourself ...
You were able to control it before and you can do it again. Now get back on the wagon and stop dwelling on this slip.

11. it's all good
as long as you're drinking light beer.

Two whole candy bars does not sound like a big deal. The burgers and cokes are worse. And toast? What's the big deal with toast? It's quite low calorie as long as it's not buttered.

Cut yourself some slack. But stay away from Burger King, before that guy with the hugh plastic head gets ya. :scared:

13. Light beer?! You replied to my post only to present me with light beer?
;) Are you old enough to remember those commercials?

Toast: comfort food. Butter or peanut butter. :spank:

14. I wonder if it's the same thing that's happening to me.
My appetite has increased dramatically and I've been trying to guess why. The only thing I can think of is that with the better weather, I'm moving around more and maybe burning more calories? It's totally strange and as I type this I'm STARVING. :(

You're recognizing the compulsion and now you must be prepared to attack and defeat it next time it arrives. Don't gain back the weight you were so happy to lose. :pals:
