Help name our new puppy!
My husband brought home a shitz zu puppy last night. Now we are going through the old "What do we name the newest member of our family" controversy.

I agreed, reluctantly, to his suggestion of Chickasha (the town in Okalhoma where his mother was born). Reluctantly because I knew that we would end up calling the puppy Chickie. And Chickie is bad for little doggies, but really bad for little male doggies.

(I was rather rooting for Alfalfa because he has this little spike of hair that stands straight up on his forehead. {He was incredibly filthy and his fur all matted when we got him. A half hour long session with warm water and shampoo, then a shorter session with the scissors made a great improvement. As soon as I can get proof or or get a new rabies shot for him, he's off to the groomers and the spike will be gone.} We'd probably end up calling him Alfie, but that would suit him.)

Today, DH calls me up and tells me he wants to name the dog "Roswell". NO WAY says I and he is pouting.

So I suggested that we put the problem to the wonderfully creative people at DU and ask for name suggestions.

We'll take your name suggestions under consideration and get back with you on what we decide.

2. My wonderful 1/2 Shih Tzu 1/2 God knows what
was in the street and struck by a motorcycle Monday night (he was 10 1/2 hears old and a very good dog). His name? Ozzie

My heart aches and I miss him so much, but the name Ozzie worked well for him. We called him Oz, Oz the Paws and when he was naughty by his full name Ozzie Smith Nagle....or just No no bad dog!!

Ozzie is in the 'pumpkin' collar - his little sister, Memo, is in the 'spider' collar. She is sometimes sad and sometimes happy (I think she likes being the only dog in the house).

Good luck w/your puppy w/ever you name him. Shih Tzus are smart and friendly dogs. You'll have a blast with him!

4. What cuties. I'm sorry about Ozzie. I know how hard it is to lose the
furry members of our families.

20. I named one of my cats "Chairman Meow".
He was a VERY vocal kitten and it seemed to fit. His twin brother is named "Flea taxi".

26. I have a cat (sort of) named "not my kitty"... it's a stray that's been hanging
around for over 2 years now. I always tell it "hey! you're NOT my kitty!" when it tries to come in my house. It doesn't seem to understand, and just comes in anyways though...

13. My aunt named her shih tzu Pippi.
The "Longstocking" was dropped on account that her hair was so matted from being abandoned that the shelter had to cut all of her hair off. It has come in nicely that she looks like a dust bunny.

I hope this is one you would consider. :hi:

16. Emperor Ming!
Has that vaguely Asian flair, yet suggests a certain sci-fi character cache.

Actually, far too cool a name for one of those little ankle-bitey things.

21. Well, couldn't you name him Brad after our governor?
Would that be OKIE enough for you?
I'm one of those people that likes to name dogs old fashioned names like Frank or Chuck. NAmed the dog Chickasha and call him Chuck! Shouldn't that fix it?
OR just call him Charlie.

25. Jack Shitz is probably not high on your list
But then when the puppy does something bad, you can always claim: "Well, you just don't know jack Shitz"
