35. I think those threads worked for a lot of folks for a lot of reasons:

new folks not yet receiving any recognition for their posts (when a forum is as large as DU it takes a very long time for others to begin to recognize us and talk); folks who haven't been around in awhile and now when post are not recognize and thus get the same treatment (nothing intentional - again a function of size) ; I think that ElRon got some special convesations started - (including what reads like some *special* conversations ;-) ) - Maybe more of us need to take up the "burden" and start these threads on a regular basis. Get more and more folks welcomed and started to be recognized by each other, talking. Maybe I am alone, but I like the idea.

Indeed if we started these threads more frequently, I would venture to guess that more folks who don't interact on the range of lounge threads, would post and start to find 'community'. We, self-proclaimed members (thank you for starting the earlier threads starting this "quazi clique"), should remember that and not wait for you to be the one to always start the threads. :D

I dislike my job. I'm trying to leave and so is everybody else. I'm next in line for a promotion I've turned down already that if the current holder leaves (likely since she got straight 1s and 2s on her evaluation and thus no raise, not even Cost of living or inflation adjustments) I've been informed that I'm going to be forced to accept, take a transfer to the hinterlands of the company, or resign.

Someone (my mother) signed me up for the postal exam without permission or consent. I have no interest but have to go or be homeless. Thus, I'm traveling 40 miles to New Haven to intentionally fail a test which I could pass with my eyes closed...and everybody knows it, so they'll know I intentionally-failed.

I've lost the ambition to look for a job. I was headhunted by a major US NPO...and can't self-motivate to write a 1 page letter needed to get the job. The cause is one I love and would normally do anything to work in. Except the job is in a city I hate. (Norfolk, VA.)

I want to move to Brooklyn. I'm stuck in CT in a house owned by my parents (they moved in with me...not vice versa.)

An amazing woman, an old acquaintance, emailed me because she was interested. I respond...she disappears into the woodwork. It's my own fault...I came on too strong. It struck me as kismet...she lives in Brooklyn.

I was a lounge loser before being a lounge loser was "cool" like it is now with Mr. Elrond Hubbard, the alleged loser, I'm not so sure he's got the street cred he once had here since starting these threads.

And he's got his own flock of losers that follow him around. Like that Kagehime character, I mean have you seen her sig line, well you can't see it now because DU is overwhelmed with something right now. But its Fizzbibber or some such thing that is all fuzzy and all.

And Elrond, well he's synonymous with "Old Gregg", a disgusting d00d that lives by the sea, has seaweed for hair, wears a tutu and gogo boots, has a mangina, and kills people and stores them for ????

So lounge loser I believe, but I also think he's lost the cred he once had when one could feel "sorry" for him and post in his thread to make him "feel better"

now people post here to be one of the "in crowd", it's more like a clique, than any clique on DU is...it's like the clique of the "anti clique" people
