How patient are the DU moderators?

I went to GD 2004 and saw the message from Skinner about some nastiness on that board last night.

I'll go to GD 2004 every so often and it's incredible how uncivil it can get.

At what point do the DU moderators just say "enough is enough" and shut the forum down?

Just an idle question.

2. After reading the cryptic post

All I can conclude is it was people who support a front-running candidate briefly disguised themselves as supporters for a lagging candidate and disrupted the board so much it slowed the site down.

I doubt they will get banned because although DU claims it hasn't endorsed a candidate, I believe they tacitly have, and did so a long time ago, so the disrupters just get a "you're naughty, naughty, naughty!!!!" note and a slap on the wrist.

The board is slow now, and it's been slow for a few days. Last night's performance artists didn't have anything to do with the board problems.

3. They tolerate a lot more than I would.

There are regular posters I personally would have tombstoned a long time ago. I'd be deleting more messages than they do. I think they're remarkably tolerant.

If you can see the number of posts the instigator has, like you can on Democratic Underground, it is almost always very low. The DU moderators are very aggressive policing their boards, thank God.

I don't think that what occured last night in GD04 was nastiness. Check out all the locked threads and see for yourself.

The site was having problems way before anyone began disrupting.
