That actually makes more sense than January 1st. It seems like a "new year" should start in the spring, not in the middle of winter. In recent years I've "unofficially" considered Earth Day the start of a new year, myself.

What year is it in Bangladesh? I would assume they go by a different calendar if today is New Year's day.

18. no it ok. bengal was divided by the british in to east/west bengal

east bengal later became bangladesh.

west bengal is part of india.
