I think I got the freakin job!!!!!! HOT DAMN!
Got laid off unexpectedly 2 weeks ago. It really devastated me because there are only a handful of companies in the whole country that manufacture the products I was designing (shipboard furnishings). Those companies are spread out over the country where there are Naval facilities. There are TWO in San Diego, where I am. Got laid off from one and hired by the other. For more $$$$!!Better Bennies!! Half the morning commute time too!! And a more organized engineering dept. too!

Oh, and the owner was my HELPER at the shipyards some 20 years ago! I taught him all the tricks of the trade back then and somehow he bought a company. The first 60 minutes of the interview was with him (owner), where we basically reminisced about the "old days". This absolutely the most comfortable interview I have ever been on.

They will call me Monday to finalize the employment!
I am FUCKING JAZZED!

:woohoo: :bounce: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :toast:

I was really getting down. I'm getting married in September and we were in the process of looking for a new place to rent. Where we are now is way too small for us. And here in San Diego, if you dont have a job, you dont get to rent anyplace!
All systems GO now!
My Fiance is sooooo happy and promised me a special....er, treat...er, you know what I mean, when she gets home from work.

And CONGRATULATIONS on your new employment! :toast:

I was just very happy about yours because you sounded so happy (plus it sounds like a fascinating field).

4. Big congratulations!
In a field as specialized as yours, it could have been very hard to find another job. This was almost easy.

5. It pays to use your networking skills.
I've been in the shipbuilding/repair industry for almost 30 years down here and you get to know a lot of people during that time.
And I NEVER burned bridges!

Being in the business your are in... do you know the maximum recommended angle for a gangway ramp? I want to build my own floating dock with ramp but want to keep it as small as possible.

10. LOL!
nope... just want my family to get in and out of my boat without going up and down a ladder on the bulkhead. The dog is particularly bad at using ladders.
