Some (lousy) pics of my new house (dial-up warning).
Excuse the (reeeally) poor picture quality; my camera is cheap and on its last legs, I think. I didn't get a pic of the outside, since it's half buried in snow, but here are a few of my favorite rooms (and an obligatory pic of my drywall disaster):

Dining room:

NoelMN's room (note the carpet that looks as though someone skinned a muppet to cover the floor; we have some Pergo-like stuff in the garage, and are replacing the flooring soon!)

My room and my beloved new bed. I need to replace the curtains:

The back entry paneling-removal mess I made:

14. It needs lots of cosmetic work,
but that's what we signed up for! I really, really enjoy the reward of fixing up things myself.

15. Thanks! I find it very soothing,
and that's exactly what a bed should be, to me- a place of comfort and respite.

4. Nice hardwood floors!
Even without seeing it on that wall, I can guess that the back entry looks better now than it did with paneling. What is visible is that dreary dark walnut color from the '60s or '70s. Ugh. I eradicated two walls of that in my house as soon as I could.

16. They need refinishing, and we have to tear out the carpet in the liv. rm
to get to the wood beneath that flooring, but it's on the list!

5. Oh, yay!
I was afraid you were buying a newish house. x(

Ogees and sculpted baseboards and corner hutches and I dunno what you call ceilings like that but they're cool unless you're Stan Laurel in "Flying Deuces." :bounce:

17. Newish house? No way.
A new construction house is not my thing. I love older homes. I drooled over the built-ins, when I saw this place! We're putting new crown moulding and baseboards in the living room/entry, which will really be an improvement.

34. The house I owned before the one before this one
was built circa 1930. It was plaster and lath with mahogany baseboards and crown moldings and French doors from the living room to the dining room, which had two mahogany corner hutches. It had a fireplace with a wood-burning stove insert (that was old-fashioned-lookin') and hardwood floors throughout.

I loved that house.

32. So... roughly mid-July, huh?
:P

I am so effing sick of snow. In fact, I need to go out and shovel. Yesterday, I was using a snow scoop, and it hit some edging in the yard. My leg slammed into the metal bar on the snow scoop, and I fell and landed FLAT on my front, with my face in the snow.

Snow is a goddamn bastard.

37. I adore the green in the dining room.
That was the color I was hoping for when I ended up with a mint mess. Nice flooring in the bedroom. I would love to get rid of the hideous carpet in my master bedroom and put either hardwood or wood laminate down. But $$$$$$ so not this year.

Very nice!
