HELP SAVE STUDIO 60! Please? (if you like it, of course!)
Edited on Mon Mar-26-07 09:57 AM by lildreamer316
E! Online's "Watch with Kristen" is doing it's annual Save One Show poll. Here's what she says:

"Now, lest you think this silly little poll doesn't really make a difference, let me remind you that our Save One Show campaign has a solid track record, having successfully rescued five out of six winning shows.

<snip>

The winner receives show-saving promotion in all three of our mediums—E! Online, E! News and the Vine. Plus, I personally will deliver your show-saving plea directly to the network execs of the winning show.."

<snip>

So I hope you'll join me in voting here:

...and THANK YOU.

1. Done and done
I love that show and really miss it; I can't believe its ratings are being held to a "higher standard" than other crappy shows they leave on the air. If I were paranoid, I'd start thinking it's a network plot. I love the potshots it takes at network TV--that's gotta sting!

2. What's funny..
Is that the ratings for the show that replaced it (Black Donnelys --sp?) are WORSE than Studio 60's and have been falling steadily since premiere night.
NBC dosen't seem to care. I don't get it.
Thanks! btw.

8. I think the secret lies in what Kristin said in the writeup about Studio 60
"I'm told there isn't a whole lot of support for the show inside the Peacock net's higher ranks."

Some executives have no sense of humor...

I even voted for Studio 60 over my longtime favorite, Gilmore Girls...but that was easy, as that show has SUCKED big-time ever since the show's creator left. Why network execs don't tweak to the fact that a quirkily written show's success is based on the quirky writing and they should keep the writer at all costs, I'll never understand.

10. That could have been said (almost) about West Wing, too.
It managed to stay ok after Sorkin left; but it was sooooooooooo much better when he was there.
Duh.
Sorry about your GG going down...i guess there's always DVDs; eh? Or maybe that writer will go on to another show...here's hoping.

As a writer myself, it hits me particularly hard when show writers are kicked to the curb and not given the respect and the credit they deserve. Of course I tend to gravitate toward quirkily written shows, so I've witnessed the sad, slow demise of many very clever shows that were my passion: Moonlighting, Northern Exposure, GG...too many to count...

I never got into West Wing (simply never started watching, and my time was taken up with other shows), but I heard it was great. Yep, they threw another one on the pyre. I just hope they redeem themselves by keeping Studio 60. I'm not going to hold my breath though. :(

On edit: Yes, GG's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, has another show in the works--and NOT on The CW, so I have my fingers crossed.

3. I liked Studio 60, but, sorry, I had to vote Crossing Jordan.
The illogic that pops up from time to time in the plots is irritating, but I really, really like the cast ensemble.

4. Oh damn!
I didn't even see it on the list of endangered shows! I love that one too! This sucks.
Maybe there will be a miracle and the'll renew that one too. Lemme go look back at the site and see what her take is on it.

7. Hrmm....
nah, I think it should die a quick, painless death. I think the premise just didn't work. I watched the first 10 or so episodes, and it just went down and down.

Are all the shows on that list in trouble? I thought 30 Rock and Scrubs were doing well.

Anyway, I voted for 30 Rock - the opposite of Studio 60. It started off HORRIBLY. I was embarrassed for Tina Fey after watching the first episode. But it has really picked up and it's now one of my favorite sitcoms.

9. Love Studio 60
Black Donellys is just boring! I have been forced to turn to I Love New York at 10pm.

Some of the shows on there are already coming back. Zach Braff signed on to do 1 more year of Scrubs.

(as i was notified upthread that it was in trouble) they will renew Crossing Jordan too.
I'm glad 30 Rock seems to be ok also.

I'm kinda surprised some of those shows are on there. 30 Rock seems to be doing really well, Jericho has a decent following, etc.

15. Are all these shows actually in danger of being cancelled?
There are quite a few good shows on the list. I couldn't believe "Medium" was there; that's one of my favorite shows, the stories are so interesting. So I had to vote for that.

22. After about six episodes, I couldn't take any more
The character development was stinko, the women were stereotypical and generally dopey, the plot uneven and illogical, yada yada yada. And by God, I could no longer watch Sorkin's characters talking dialogue while walking. Gah!

24. I hope that it come back
But NBC needs another time slot for that fucking horrible Deal or No Deal and Identity. I will say I don't mind 1 vs 100 because you actually have to DO something to win money not just depend on dumb luck.

25. Those both
seem almost the same to me. Can't they think of anything different? (Deal and Identity, I mean). No creativity whatsoever.
Thanks...
