3. I Made Those Tray Cards Spheshul For You
There were tweo CDs, right??

So, which track is your favorite so far? My mom (age 72) loves "Teenage Pussy from Outer Space;" I like the ones I listed on the fancy note card.

4. I'm especially liking "Too Much Pork For Just One Fork."
Are you, by any chance, a fan of the late Country Dick Montana and the Beat Farmers?

6. "Too Much Pork" is Southern Culture on The Skids
There were some odds and ends on that playlist, and I was too lazy to clean it up.

Don't think I've heard of Country Dick. Mojo Nixon, yes - he played at the Grand Emporium back in the day.

7. I didn't get turned on to Mojo until the mid-90s.
Here's an interview I did with him in '96. Oh, what an experience _that_ was. :P

9. Believe it or not...
I did make-up for one of their videos back in the day. If I remember corectly, the name of the song was "Teenage Pussies From Outerspace". They were genuinely nice guys, and I spent a very fun day with them on a soundstage. They seemed to be real originals.

It was so sad to hear about his murder.

11. I did the job as a favor for...
a friend who was the production coordinator for the shoot, so my "pay" was their CD. "Teenage Pussies" was fairly catchy (or maybe it was because I had heard it around 100 times during the shoot) but the one that really struck me was "Enema Party" -- I was like, whaaaaAAA?!?!?!? :D It takes some bit of talent to make a fun/catchy tune out of that subject!

I still have the CD after all of these years -- I may have to plug it in. In the past, I found that it makes for great housecleaning music. :P

12. Oh, DO plug it in!
When I play Mojo Nixon and/or Country Dick Montana & the Beat Farmers, our kitty boy rides around on the vacuum cleaner as I do about my "womanly work." :spray:

13. The CD Was Released After Phil Bury (Buck Naked) Was Murdered
I knew Phil - not super well, but every time he came into town, we had time to chat and he was a really nice guy. On stage he was rude and crude and vulgar; offstage he was shy and sweet. They had a few EP releases, but the full-length album was finished and released after he was murdered by a mentally ill homeless man in Golden Gate Park, who shot Phil while he was walking his dogs. His murder made "News of the Weird" and it struuck me that those items weren't nearly as funny when you knew the victim.

14. "Prairie Home Invasion" by Mojo Nixon and Jello Biafra might be my favorite record ever.
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 03:17 AM by Fenris
"Are You Drinking With Me, Jesus?" and "Will The Fetus Be Aborted?" - who couldn't love an album with song titles like that.

Plus, there's the most biting cover song ever:

I cried when they shot John Lennon
Tears ran down my spine
And I cried when I saw "JFK"
As if I'd lost a father of mine
But Malcom-X and Ice-T had it coming
They got what they asked for this time

So love me, love me, love me,
I'm a liberal!

I go to pro-choice rallies
Recycle my cans and jars
I'll honk if you love the Dead
Hope those funny Grunge bands become stars
But don't talk about revolution
That's going a little bit to far

So love me, love me, love me,
I'm a liberal!

I cheered when Clinton was chosen
My faith in the system reborn
I'll do anything to save our schools
If my taxes ain't too much more
And I love Blacks and Gays and Latinos
As long as they don't move next door

So love me, love me, love me,
I'm a liberal!

Rush Limbaugh and the L.A.P.D.
Should all hang their heads in shame
I can't understand where they're at
Arsenio should set them straight
But if neighborhood watch doesn't know you
I hope the cops take your name

So love me, love me, love me,
I'm a liberal

Yeah, I read the New Republic
Rolling Stone and Mother Jones too
If I vote it's for a Democrat
With a sensible economy view
But when it comes to terrorist Arabs
There is no one more red, white, and blue

So love me, love me, love me,
I'm a liberal!

Once I was young and had an attitude
Stickers covered the car I drove in
Even went on some direct actions
When there weren't rent-a-cops to be seen
Ah, but now I've grown older and wiser
And that's why I'm turning you in

So love me, love me, love me,
I'm a liberal!

15. Didn't Phil Ochs originally do "Love Me I'm A Liberal"?
I love me some MOJO, though! :whattaman:

(I'm right now making DUer REP a Mojo sampler with "Will The Fetus Be Aborted" on it. :7 )
